BMW India has commenced deliveries of its most expensive motorcycle currently on sale in the country, the M 1000 RR. It is priced at Rs. 49,00,000 for the standard model, while the Competition version costs Rs. 55,00,000 (both ex-showroom, Delhi).
The BMW M 1000 RR is a much swankier supersport offering based on the S 1000 RR. While it may share design cues with the S, the M distinguishes itself with carbon fibre bodywork, revised internals, slightly more power, and more electronics. BMW has equipped the M 1000 RR with larger appendages as standard, and its signature paint scheme as well. This makes the bike look every bit of a race-ready machine.
Powering the BMW M 1000 RR is a 999cc, inline, four-cylinder engine that makes 211bhp and 113Nm. It is linked to a six-speed gearbox and gets a bi-directional quickshifter. There are other electronic rider aids too, including ABS, traction control, slide control, seven ride modes (Rain, Road, Dynamic, Race, and Race Pro 1, 2, and 3), launch control, wheelie control, steering stabiliser, cruise control, drop sensor, hill start, and more.
The bike’s hardware comprises USD front forks and a monoshock with rebound, compression, and preload adjustability. Then, the brakes include dual 320mm front discs and a single 220mm rear unit with dual-channel ABS.
The BMW M 1000 RR is a rather special motorcycle and its only current rival in India is the Ducati Panigale V4 R, which costs Rs. 69,99,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
