Bajaj Pulsar RS 200 Review

  • Good Things

    • Gets a refined engine
    • The six-speed gearbox is slick
    • Quite cheap to maintain
  • Could be Better

    • Quite pricey for a Bajaj
    • The ride quality is too stiff
    • Overall fit and finish doesn't justify the price

BikeWale's Take

The RS200 is one sport-looking motorcycle. It is loaded with features and technology that makes it an interesting bike to own. However, it has become quite pricey over the last few years, making it less desirable.

Bajaj Pulsar RS 200 Expert Opinion

I was excited when I got an email from Bajaj Motorcycles to test their new motorcycle, the Pulsar RS200, at their Chakan test track. And there were two reasons - the Pulsar RS200 and the Chakan track. Over the last couple of months, we have written quite a few articles on the Pulsar RS200 ranging from it being spied around Pune to its name changing from SS200 to RS200. Honestly, I don’t think we have written so many spy pictures story for any another bike like we have done for the Pulsar RS200. It was the most anticipated motorcycle from Bajaj because it was going to open the doors of the budget fully-faired entry-level performance motorcycles. With India’s ever growing young population, the Pulsar RS200 seems to have attracted lot of interest. We take the Pulsar RS200 for a spin at Bajaj’s test track to find out how far it will take the legacy of the Pulsar brand.

If you don't know about Pulsar RS 200. You are not a biker

      Kamal

The Pulsar RS 200 is a sporty bike with a 199.5cc engine that offers impressive performance, reaching speeds around 140 km/h. It features sharp handling and a bold design, making it appealing to enthusiasts. The riding position is aggressive, which may not be comfortable for long rides, but the well-padded seat provides decent support for shorter trips. Fuel efficiency is reasonable at about 35-40 km/l. Overall, it’s a great choice for those seeking a performance-oriented motorcycle for city rides and occasional track use.

Yes, pulsar RS200 is a mean machine. It has everything you need for a tourer that is why it is also called a sport toorer bike. You can cruise on 100 to 120 for hours. Riding posture is perfect for long rides. Many guys are using it for long routes even a few did Nepal and Ladakh Spiti etc on this. But you should know that its ground clearance is very less comparison to a tourer bike. So path whole and off-road is a headache as when you see any water crossing you will lose confidence as you know that it gonna hit your bike. The rear shocker of every pulser is smooth now same is with RS200.
Service cost is around 1000–1500 rs per 5000 km which is awesome. Yes, there is a bit of vibration but it's manageable. As it pulsars, you need to lube and clean your chain after every 500 km for smooth riding. Lights are good but you need to add a few aftermarket fog lamps if going on the highway. You will get 30–35 km/l mileage which is good.

I love the way this bike is designed, it looks like an attitude devil. hence I ride it sometimes a lot. I have done 0 to 100 drag in 9.1 seconds on it I can still do better. its seating posture is awesome you can tour on it take it to track can take all of that with ease. I raced with my friend's RC 200 head to head and at the start, it was neck to neck after 120 my RS blew it to 150.

Nice bike with Superbike looks, you must change the visor to black it looks good, I love its headlights, I think of some light work done after 1-year completion, and Bajaj should improve their service center services, a little bit of chain sprocket problem, the chains get loose even after regular lubrication.

      Low quality product

      Raj Thakur

I purchased rs200 in April 2024 but after a few days in 150 km its tank top was cracked automatically. After that, I changed it but within 70 km it cracked again automatically. Its quality is very cheap, bajaj should use good quality materials for its tank top. Very disappointed very cheap quality product and Bajaj managers and workers are even worse in behaviour.

Better to have a cycle rather than this

      Golam

It's always a good experience for a new buyer. Same was for me. It has a kind of sporty look . After 7 days I realised that this bike doesn't have the power to match those other bikes of its price range. This is not a bike for groomed bikers. Although service and maintenance charges are adjustable. This is the only advantage. The problems with this one, are like- breaks, clutch, meaningless weight distribution, it's chain may not survive the hit of engine for long time, engine is always drumming of its own . These problems are there ,even after routine servicing. Just a nightmare in a every morning.

Absolute nightmare of a bike. Stay away from bajaj

The bike is an absolute nightmare. I have never met any rider who has this bike and not wants to sell it off after one year. My bike has suffered 5 breakdowns in the last 13 months itself with a mere ride of 12000kms.
Highly unreliable and stupid piece of machine. I fail to understand how govt allows this vehicle on road. Was there no testing at all?

      Uncomfortable

Pick-up is good. Very uncomfortable seats. This bike is only for short rides. If you use this for long rides you will suffer from backache and shoulder pain. This bike is not designed ergonomically. This bike has very less ground clearance. On every breaker, the silencer touches the breaker and this makes you feel it is not worthy.

Worst thing is limiter in bs6 rs200.
      Fit& Finish could be better.
And Futureless bike, I want a full digital meter except Analogue. the meter is good, feels like a thrill. And I think now Bajaj company give fat tyres in rs200 on both sides with radial tyre.
Front 110/R17 and Rear 140/R17. That gives better grip on the road.
