One of the first semi-faired bikes in the country, the Karizma has been a popular bike since it was first launched in 2003. Throughout these years, the Karizma has been given a quite a few cosmetic updates, but the engine has always remained almost the same. Even the fully-faired version, the Karizma ZMR, retains the engine, but with fuel injection.
Last year, Hero Moto Corp unveiled the revamped 2014 model year Karizma R. The motorcycle gets cosmetic as well as mechanical updates. The changes to the exteriors include restyled body panels, new headlamps, DRLs and revised tail lamps.
The latest iteration of the Karizma R also gets minor updates to the company’s tried and tested four-stroke SOHC 223cc engine which now produces 19.2bhp of power and 19.35Nm of torque in comparison to the previous version which produced 17.2bhp of power and 18.35Nm of torque. The motorcycle is now capable of accelerating from 0-60kmph sprint in 3.6 seconds, a 0.2 second faster than the previous model.
The new Karizma R is now on sale in the market. The motorcycle currently competes against the Bajaj Pulsar 220F, Bajaj Pulsar NS200 and TVS Apache RTR 180.

Karizma the initial sports bike of India of my era.
Sahil Sharma
Karizma was the dream bike right from its initial launch. Obviously, the bike (the legend) topped the choice of every bike enthusiast for more than a decade. The bike had minimal issues in the long run, never betrayed, and conquered various terrains with me. The mileage was good and the speed was more than enough for me as I believe in touring and sometimes covering the distance fast in order to avoid impending circumstances. Apart from some parts being worn out with time, this is usual in any bike, I never had any bike failure in the longest of my trips, and the credit goes to the best engine oil being used with the servicing being done quarterly to check for any issues. A bike is like a Dog you keep not a girlfriend. It is loyal when you take care of it and once a girl can betray but not a Dog and my Karizma was everything to me.

Tips for other riders
Get a mechanic who has a good experience and keep in touch with him as he's the doctor that can be the first to help in emergent conditions. Rest the weight on his shoulder and he will do the best to keep the bike in best condition. And Yes, change engine oil on time, check on Cables and Spark Plug. Wear a Helmet! Make merry!

Feel the smoothness of speed

It is a very good sports premium bike from hero motocorp, i have bought the sports red version in 2014 & enjoying riding on it, it gives its best performance on smooth highways rather than bad, up-down roads. I had a top speed of 120 kmph in nh 60 within 15 second time. But as it is discontinued, it's difficult to find original parts in showroom.

Karizma r 2014 the good and bad!

Buying a karizma r was a dream come true to me. I know the looks and styling of the new karizma is bit odd but as time passed it did grow on me and i really din feel the bike is that bad. However, issues that i would like to address after riding it for the past 3 years, listing down:Bike would never start in one go when being idle for more than 9-10 hours. It would take a lot of effort.Once the bike starts it need to run at-least a couple of kms to function smoothly. Sometimes i have to keep revving the bike for normal throttle response. Mind you, the throttle response is very poor when you get your bike started from being idle for a long time. There are lot of vibrations. With almost 20bhp, the bike is expected to kick in @5k rpm. Well it does but takes some effort. The tail indicators are very delicate and often gets broken. Karizma r mirrors are very rigid. Not sure why it isn't smooth. I have seen this in most of the karizma v2 models.Servicing is ok. Not up to the mark. The only thing i love about the bike is the ride quality and the way it soak in bumps due to good suspension. The riding posture is great and the rider will be comfortable. Drawback for pillion as the seat is very poor. Not advisable for long rides with pillion.Handling is fine. Braking not that good.

A bike called hero karizma

Arush Singh
Hello all ,
first of all when i got my bike for the first time it has carburetor issues and it was submitted with the service centre for 20-25 days and even after replacement of the carburetor it had the same issue ( when the bike started in the morning it had carburetor related problem it did not started in the morning and after it started with lots of effort and riding it for few kilometres it worked normal ) . The single thing which i felt good was the mileage it was good . And now speaking about negative's well the thing is the bike is/was under powered felt like it was a 150 cc bike , the older generation bike was much more better . The parts availability spare parts support was next to 0 the spare parts took time to come anywhere between 7-10 days that too if available. The bike vibrated a lot after 65 kph and the max it could go was 90-100 and at these speeds it vibrated a lot . Well now i have after suffering 1.5 years with a new bike , i sold it with lot of pain as i loved the name karizma i was madly in love with the old model but my bad luck when time came the old model was discontinued well that was my ownership experience, short but it taught a lot to me .

Style poor.
Engine performance, fuel economy and gearbox good.
Ride quality & handling poor.
Final words please re prodect old model. Its awsome bike.
Areas of improvement poor design. Karizma r old version is far better than this in styling. I don't know what hero wants to do by modifying this bike. It's better to go for new bikes rather than modifying existing good bike in market. Even zmr 2014 is worst in its segment. Hero is no more in the competition of sports bikes.
Pros
engine too good
cons
over all design worst

Stunning bike

Style point is, it doesn't have a photogenic face. When i've seen it live, it was amazing and it's like an advancement in styling.
Engine performance, fuel economy and gearbox as the caption says, above all. Performance is great, mileage around 35 and gear shifting is a bit tight and i'm hoping that'd fix in the first service.
Ride quality & handling comfort and the handling position is very good and i'm enjoying, riding it.
Final words keep updated with the technology, if you want to be above all, go for it!
areas of improvement mileage, hardness in gear shifting.
Pros
looks, styling and comfort
cons
mileage, gear shifting is a bit tight
