KTM India starts testing the RC 390

KTM has started testing the RC 390 in India.The test vehicle seen in the picture seems to be production ready.The camouflaged two-wheeler hides most details, but on comparing with images of the RC 390 that was unveiled at the EICMA, we can see the clear similarities.

From the rear three-quarter profile of the bike, we can guage that it follows the similar design of the bike that premiered earlier. Since it is a production version, this one includes all the elements like rear-view mirrors, indicators, visor and a number plate holder to make it road legal. The company has continued the aggressive stance of the naked sibling in this faired version. The angular design of the fairing, clip-on handle-bars, a visor, wide OVRMs, LED tail lamps are visible. Since we do not have a front picture of this test bike, it is difficult to affirm if the manufacturer has made any changes to the dual headlamps set up.

KTM unveiled the fully-faied version of the Duke 390, dubbing it as the RC 390, last year. It uses the same engine and underpinnings as the Duke 390. The KTM RC 390 is powered by the same single cylinder 373cc engine that powers the Duke 390. It produces 43bhp and 35Nm of torque and has been mated to a six-speed sequential gearbox. The company might fine tune this power train to make it usable both on the track as well as the street.

KTM manufactures the RC range at its plant in India. Most of the KTM products are exported from here to many countries across the world. We can expect the company to start testing the RC 200 soon. Bajaj might launch the KTM RC 390 and RC 200 for the Indian market this year.
