Yamaha Motor India showcased the concept model of the R25 at the 2014 Auto Expo. While there were many visitors gazing at the Yamaha pavilion, a few enthusiasts were seen admiring this machine. Most had only one question in their minds: When will this bike launch in India?
Autocar Pro reports that the production model of the R25 will be launched in the Indian market next year. The Japanese manufacturer is working hard on this bike and is making minor changes. The production variant will not look very different from the concept and the company wants to launch this bike in the global market on priority basis. We can expect this bike to make its way to India soon after its global launch but we won’t be surprised if the global launch will happen here, considering the fact that the premium bike segment is growing in double digits.
The Yamaha R25 is powered by new liquid cooled parallel twin 250cc fuel-injected engine that is mated to a six-speed gearbox. The company hasn’t disclosed any information on the power figures but it expected to be the best in the segment.
"Yamaha is working to make some changes (minor) to the R25 model as displayed at the Auto Expo recently. The Japanese firm plans to float the product in the market on a priority basis and hence is looking at commercially launching it in 2015," said a source to Autocar pro.
Once launched in India, it will compete with the soon to be launched KTM RC390, Hero HX250R, Kawasaki Ninja 300, Honda CBR250 and the Hyosung GT250R.
