Honda’s upcoming Activa 125’s brochure leaked

Honda unveiled the Activa 125 at the recently concluded Auto Expo without revealing their launch plans. Now, the brochure of the two-wheeler disclosing all the details is available on the internet.

The front profile of the scooter shows a new design on the part in between the body side indicators. Cosmetically, the decals have been kept plain and subtle without many stickers. It will be available in four colours- Black, Midnight Blue Metallic, Sword Silver Metallic and Peal Sunbeam White.

The Activa 125 stands tall on a 12-inch 90/90 section front tyre and a 10-inch 90/100 section rear tyre. These are fitted on five-spoke alloy wheels. The two-wheeler is equipped with telescopic forks at the front and spring loaded hydraulic type suspension at the rear. The scooter boasts of an optional 190mm front disc brake and 130mm drums brakes at the rear with the Combi Brake System, again as an option. It gets a new digital speedometer.

The dimensions of the new Activa 125 have been changed making it larger than the present Activa. It is 1,814mm in length, 53mm longer than the current version, and the wheelbase of 1,260mm adds 22mm to this new scooter. The company has, however, made the new model 6mm thinner, measuring 704mm in width. The scooter is also 4mm taller making it 1,151mm in height but the seat height has not been changed. The ground clearance has been increased to 155mm, 2mm greater as compared to the current scooter.

So what is so special about the Activa 125 that differentiates it from the outgoing Activa? As the name suggests, it’s the more powerful, larger capacity, 125cc engine. The new Activa 125 gets more power than the present Activa which is powered by an 110cc engine. As the brochure mentions, the Activa 125 is powered by an air-cooled 124.9 cc four-stroke petrol engine that produces 8.6bhp of power at 6,500rpm and 10.12Nm of torque at 5,500rpm. Power will be transmitted through the company’s V-matic continuously variable transmission.

Honda claims the Activa 125 will provide superior performance and best-in-class mileage. When it goes on sale, this scooter should give tough competition to the Mahindra Duro and the Suzuki Access. The launch seems to be scheduled in April after the financial year end and we can expect the scooter to reach the showrooms then. With the advent of the Activa 125, Honda will expand its portfolio with the introduction of this 125cc scooter. This will also enable the manufacturer to introduce more new models equipped with the 125cc engine.
