Honda patents naked version of the CBR300R

Honda has patented a new design that appears to be a naked version of the fully-faired CBR300R. This clearly makes us believe that the Japanese manufacturer will follow the same route of creating different versions like naked, fully-faired and the adventure with its CBR300R platform as well, like they did with the 400 and the 500 platform.

The company currently has registered this new design with the European Union’s office for Harmonization in the Internal market. If you look closely at this leaked image, you will see most of the components of this bike like the frame, alloy wheels, swingarm, front mudguard, seats, grab rail and even the rear view mirrors are a complete lift off from the CBR300R.

Mechanically, we are expecting the naked version which might be called CB300R, will get the same 286cc single cylinder engine from the CBR300R. This engine churns out 30.4bhp at 8,500rpm and maximum torque of 27Nm at 7,250rpm and is mated to a six-speed gearbox with one down and five up gear-shift pattern.

As the Honda CBR300R replaces the CBR250R in some markets, we can expect the Japanese maker to offer this naked version as well in those markets. Honda India continues to sell the CBR250R in the country and also confirmed that it will not replace this bike with the CBR300R anytime soon. So we are pretty sure, the naked version won’t come to us before the CBR300R
