Piaggio India has started accepted bookings for the Aprilia Caponord 1200 motorcycle. The adventure-touring motorcycle has been launched with a special price of Rs 14 lakh, valid only for the month of February with deliveries to start in April.
The Caponord 1200, the first adventure-touring motorcycle from Aprilia was first unveiled at the EICMA event in Milan. The motorcycles carries the new design, however the Caponord 1200 has borrowed the 90 degree V-Twin liquid-cooled engine from Dorsoduro 1200. Not only this, the basic chassis has been borrowed from the supermoto sibling.
The 1197cc liquid-cooled engine produces peak power of 128bhp at 8500rpm and peak torque of 116Nm at 6500rpm. The engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox. The motorcycle features a ride-by-wire technology which features the three modes, Sport, Touring and Rain where the first two offers full power and the last one limits the power to 100bhp.Aprilia’s traction control system and ABS is standard in the Caponord 1200 but you also get an option to switch off the ABS which we recommend you don’t. The motorcycle has a fuel tank capacity of 24 litres including 5 reserve litres. We are expecting the motorcycle to cover a distance of around 220kms in one full-tank.
Currently, the only adventure-touring motorcycle available in India are the Ducati Multistrada and the BMW R1200GS Adventure, both are priced above Rs 20 lakh. The machine can be booked at Pune and Gurgaon showroom.
