Suzuki Gixxer brochures leaked before launch

Suzuki will launch their new 155cc motorcycle, the Gixxer next week. It has been due for a launch ever since it was unveiled at the start of this year. Prior to the launch we have the brochures of the bike, thanks to our sources.

Suzuki has put forth the Gixxer as a street sport bike targeting it at the youth in India. The looks of the motorcycle are inspired by the legendary GSX-R sports bike and the bike borrows many other traits from the elder sibling. For example the styling of the end can of the exhaust is similar to the GSX-R which also gets dual exhausts. The bike boasts of a headlamp with bikini fairing and gets a digital speedometer. The tank has been well chiseled, complementing the muscular naked look and is capable of holding 12 litres of fuel.

With the kerb weight of the motorcycle kept down to 135kgs, the Gixxer features telescopic forks at the front and single-shock suspension with an aluminium swing-arm at the rear. The motorcycle is equipped with a disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear. The alloy wheels get a special Y shape while the bike also boasts of a wide 140/60R tyre at the rear and 100/80 size tyre at the front. Both are 17 inch in size and tubeless.

Coming to the mechanical bits, Suzuki has powered the Gixxer with a four-stroke single cylinder air-cooled 155cc engine that produces 10.4kW, that is, 13.94bhp of power and 14Nm of torque. This motor comes mated to a five-speed manual gearbox, unlike the GS150R which gets a six-speed transmission. The motorcycle gets an electric start like other bikes in the segment and a carburetted fuel system. However, the two-wheeler is equipped with SEP (Suzuki Eco Performance) technology which the company claims will help  it  to deliver both good performance as well as fuel efficiency.

The Suzuki Gixxer will be available in five colours- metallic triton blue, oort grey metallic, candy antares red, peal mirage white and glass sparkle black.

The Gixxer might be priced in the Rs 72,000 to Rs 75,000 bracket but for the exact pricing we will have to wait until Suzuki launches the bike next week. At present, bookings are being accepted for the bike at Suzuki dealerships and the bike is expected to arrive at showrooms by August 15. The Gixxer will rival the Hero Extreme, Yamaha FZ, Honda Trigger and the Bajaj Pulsar 150 in the Indian market.
