The new Ducati Monster 1200 was first shown at the ECIMA in November last year. With prices starting at around 13,500 Euros (Rs 11.40 lakh), it’s the new flagship model of the Monster range from the Italian motorcycle brand.
The Monster 1200 made its Russian debut at the ongoing 2014 Moscow Motor Show. The motorcycle is powered by a 1200cc liquid cooled engine that puts out 135bhp and 118Nm of torque. Paired with a 6-speed gearbox, this engine also powers the striking looking Diavel. The latter has also been showcased in Moscow.
The Monster 1200 features Brembo brakes, hydraulic clutch, ride by wire throttle and a TFT display. Ducati also has the sportier Monster 1200S which gets race-ready Ohlins suspension and lots of carbon fibre parts. The engine also puts out more power at 145bhp.
Now that it has decided to officially set shop in India, Ducati has some big plans lined up. Currently, the entire range is imported from Italy through Precision Motors, an importer based in India. The Monster 1200 will be the first model to arrive after Ducati’s official entry into the Indian market.
