KTM Motorsports and MotoAmerica last year announced the RC Cup series for young and upcoming racers in the US. Now, the company has announced that the factory-sealed RC390 Cup bike will be available for sale in the US market, at USD 9,999 (Rs 6.17 lakh).
The RC Cup bike has been developed as a track-only race bike and features over 40 PowerParts modifications to aid the bike’s dynamics. It features fully adjustable WP suspension on both the ends, a titanium Akrapovic exhaust and RC8 R-Style throttle assembly. The RC Cup RC390 has been detuned to 38 horsepower, down from the stock bike’s 44 horsepower to meet the regulations. The bike will also sport a racing windshield, tail fairing, belly pan, foldable levers and racing rear set footpegs.
The RC Cup will be a five-round special class series, conducted as a part of the 2015 MotoAmerica AMA/FIM American Motorcycle Road Racing Championship Series. As the RC390 Cup bikes are factory sealed, engine rebuilds between races, maintenance and ECU checks will be performed by HMC technicians only.
KTM sells the RC390 Cup bikes through dealerships as ready-to-race motorcycles, with stock road-going and privately modified versions of the motorcycle being barred from entering the series. The RC390 was launched here last year, and though the company hasn’t confirmed it yet, we are sure that it won’t be long before KTM announces such a series for India too.
