Ducati, last week, presented its World Superbike team for the 2015 season at the Aruba Data Center in Italy. Called Aruba.it Racing, the team has retained the 2014 season’s riders Chaz Davies and Davide Giuliano and will be the only official Ducati team on the WSBK grid, this season.
The new Panigale 1199R gets a completely new livery in the Italian manufacturer’s trademark red and has been modified to adhere to the new WSBK regulation. The new WSBK technical regulations require the use of suspension, brakes, and chassis to be upgraded from the stock production model. Many components including the sensors, IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) platform and Magneti Marelli MLE are now similar to the ones used in production bikes. The engine also isn’t as tuned as before, though the engineers did manage to retain the power out of the 2014 bike in the new model.
Speaking about the new Panigale 1199R, Mr Ernesto Marinelli, Superbike project manager said, “The 2015 Panigale R Superbike is an evolved version of the one we raced in 2014. We have come into line with the new technical regulations and the biggest changes are the new electronics, the engine, and the new exhaust system. The electronics package has been totally revised, also because a EUR 8,000 price cap has been introduced by the regulations.”
