2020 Honda Africa Twin Adventure Sports: What else can you buy?

Honda updated its premium motorcycle portfolio last month with the launch of the new 2020 Africa Twin Adventure Sports. The motorcycle is better in almost every aspect as compared to the previous iteration. It has been priced at Rs 15.35 lakh and Rs 16.10 lakh for the manual and DCT (dual-clutch transmission) variants, respectively. Here, we take a look at three alternatives to the Africa Twin which are priced in the same ballpark.

BMW F 850 GS Adventure Pro: Rs 15.40 lakh

Another middle-weight adventure tourer in this segment is the BMW F 850 GS Adventure Pro. It is a more hardcore version of the standard F 860 GS with redesigned body panels, tall windscreen, longer-travel suspension, larger luggage rack, engine guard and a much bigger 23-litre fuel tank. Propelling the motorcycle is an 853cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine good for 95bhp and 92Nm. The list of features includes a 6.5-inch TFT display, ASC (automatic stability control), traction control and two riding modes.

Indian FTR 1200: Rs 16.15

The Indian FTR 1200 is one of the few flat tracker-styled motorcycles available in India. An upright handlebar, peanut-shaped fuel tank, short and floating tail section and a pair of upswept exhausts, all of it lend it a styling like no other motorcycle in the market. However, the main highlight here is the 1203cc, V-twin motor which makes a staggering 120bhp and 115Nm of torque. Electronic aids include traction control, wheelie control, lean-sensitive stability control and three riding modes.

Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade: Rs 16.43 lakh

For the sportsbike fanatics, the Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade would be a real treat with insane performance and high-end electronic wizardry. The 999cc, inline four-cylinder motor of the CBR belts out 186.3bhp of power and 114Nm of torque which makes it manic for the streets as well as racetracks. For keeping the rider safe, it also incorporates a plethora of rider aids such as wheelie control, rear lift control, engine braking riding mode select system and a gyroscopic ABS system.
