Bajaj Avenger 150 Street hits Pulsar AS150 sales

Bajaj created an all-new segment when it launched the Avenger 150 Street in India, earlier this year. However, the entry-level cruiser is now cannibalising within its brand by eating into the Pulsar AS150’s sales.

Sales of the Pulsar AS150 have been hit ever since the Avenger 150 Street was introduced in the Indian market. Though both these models are 150cc commuter motorcycles under the skin, they come in contrasting body styles with unique identities. Customers in this segment usually are the ones upgrading from 100cc and 125cc commuter bikes, looking for a stylish and efficient motorcycle. While the semi-fairing and the projector headlamps of the Pulsar AS150 successfully draws customers to showrooms, the tall stance of the motorcycle and the perception of it being difficult to ride, seem to put off them off. The Avenger 150 Street on the other hand, with its low seat height, rider-friendly ergonomics and the styling inspired by the Harley-Davidson Street 750 has successfully managed to capture the Indian customers’ imagination. Also at Rs 74,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi), the Avenger 150 Street is Rs 6,000 cheaper than the Pulsar AS150, which makes it a great value for money proposition.

Presently, the Bajaj Avenger 150 Street is being sold only in Maharashtra, though the company plans to start deliveries in other states very soon. Such is the popularity of the Avenger 150 Street that it currently commands a waiting period stretching from 15 to 30 days. As of now, the Avenger 150 Street is offered in a single midnight blue paint scheme, though the company will eventually introduce more colours over time.
