Upcoming mid-range Triumph Bonneville spotted testing

Triumph has unveiled the premium Bonneville T120, Thruxton, and also the Street Twin, which is the entry-level offering. The recently spied Bonneville will now fill the gap between the Street Twin and the T120.

The spy shots of the mid-range Bonneville show the 900cc motor used in the Street Twin, although it could be in a slightly higher state of tune, to give it a performance gain over the cheaper Street Twin, which makes 55bhp and 79Nm of torque.

The styling is mostly identical to the T120 Black, with little chrome and a black finish on the engine and exhausts. The motorcycle also features the T120’s wire wheels, longer mudguards front and rear, a fuel tank and a piped seat similar to the T120.

Coming to the mechanical side of things, the single-disc brake in place of the T120’s twin-disc set up is very prominent. For this, the whole front end including the forks, have been adapted with the Street Twin’s set-up, which have no mounting points for a caliper on the right-hand side. The spy shots also reveal the same drilled metal throttle body cover as the Street Twin, while the T120 gets twin throttle bodies. The prominent badges on the engine state ‘Bonneville 900’.

This new mid-range Bonneville could feature ride-by-wire, traction control, ABS and multiple rider modes, as seen on the T120. Triumph could officially reveal this new model in November or December as a 2017 model, the Indian launch could be sometime next year.
