Top 5 official accessories you can buy with Royal Enfield Himalayan

We’ve just ridden the exciting Royal Enfield Himalayan around Shimla and were left impressed. Though we were given the final production motorcycle to test out, we also wanted to ride the one which had those good looking aluminium panniers. Unfortunately, those aren’t standard and have to be bought separately. So here, we list the top five accessories that you could and should buy with the Himalayan.

1: Aluminium Panniers

Long tours mean, you need to carry more luggage. And to do this, Royal Enfield is offering the aluminium panniers as accessories that could fit on the Himalayan. However, to do this, you need to install the metal frame (that comes with the panniers) on the sub frame. From the start of the development, Royal Enfield wanted space for these panniers and that’s why the company worked a lot on the subframe. 

2: Soft Saddle bags

Not a fan of boxy aluminium panniers? No problem. You’ve the option of buying the soft saddlebags too. In fact, you can use either use it over the passenger seat or you can buy the frame, install it and then put the saddlebags on it. These saddlebags have been made by Royal Enfield and could be bought from their showrooms. Once the Himalayan is launched, this bag will be available at Royal Enfield’s online store too.

3: Jerry Can

You can also opt for Jerry cans that can be mounted on the Himalayan. Each of these can accommodate 2 litres of fuel – so 4 litres in total. So basically, these cans can extend your ride by up to 120 km, which is pretty good. The quality of these jerry cans is brilliant and we did feel it during the media ride in Shimla. So in short, it’s safe to use these cans. 

4: Exhaust

The stock exhaust of the Himalayan isn’t very loud, like the other Royal Enfields. It sounds nice and is pretty good for a tourer. You really don’t need a loud exhaust, especially, when you’re doing a long distance ride. But even if you want one, Royal Enfield will sell an after-market exhaust as a part of their accessories. Cosmetically, there won’t be any difference. Only thing that’ll differ is the sound, which has more bass and is louder.   

5: Riding gear

Royal Enfield has partnered with Revit to manufacture and sell touring riding gear. It includes a jacket, trouser, gloves and a pair of boots. The price of the gear isn’t known yet, but we’ll know more after the launch tomorrow. So if you’re in the market for a new riding gear, you should definitely check this out.
