A couple of days ago we wrote about Royal Enfield’s CEO hinting about a possible launch of a 750cc motorcycle. But now, there are reports of a 600-650cc cruiser being developed for the foreign markets.
As per Siddhartha Lal, CEO & MD, Royal Enfield, their current range of motorcycles aren’t fast enough for the international highways. To address this problem, the Chennai-based company is readying a new platform that will power this new high capacity cruiser. Codenamed P61, this motorcycle will make its way to the American and the European market first, where there’s a demand for such cruisers. In fact, Royal Enfield will use a twin-cylinder engine for this cruiser, which would be more about low and mid-range torque.
While the top honcho didn’t comment on the India launch for this bike, it’ll eventually be launched in the Indian market as there’s a market for it too. Harley-Davidson was the first ones to bring a product in this segment with the Street 750 and that got volumes for the American manufacturer.
Stay tuned to BikeWale as we get you more information on Royal Enfield’s future line-up.
