B Rajnikanth wins opening race of the Suzuki Gixxer Open Cup

B Rajnikanth won Race 1 of the Suzuki Gixxer Open Cup at the Kari Motor Speedway on Sunday. The Coimbatore race was red-flagged shortly after a crash on the opening lap.

The race was red-flagged after Prativ Selveraj crashed on Turn 1 in the first lap. He was taken to the hospital and was discharged after precautionary x-ray and treatment. Once the race resumed, Rajnikanth took the lead and kept it that way.

The racer finished with a lead of 11s from Vivek Mani, who finished second after starting from twelfth on the grid. Prabhu V took the third spot on the podium and was followed by Kamlesh Thakur who took fourth

Race 2 was cancelled due to the presence of only one ambulance at the circuit, the minimum according to the safety regulations are two.

Aaron Gunawardena from Sri Lanka finished first in the Suzuki Gixxer Cup Novice category. He was followed by Chennai residents Joseph P. Mathew who took second and Amarnath Rajan who took third.
