750cc Royal Enfield Continental GT spotted testing

Here are pictures of what looks to be Royal Enfield’s upcoming 750cc parallel-twin cylinder engine motorcycle. The bike has been spotted in Britain, somewhere around their new technology centre and appears visually similar to the Continental GT.

To make one thing clear, the bike appears to be in its development form, which means the final product will most likely feature better fit and finish. The motorcycle looks to be running a reworked Continental GT frame with a modified rear section. The main reason for this change is a bigger all-new engine.

This is not the first time this motorcycle has made an appearance, a grainy picture of the parallel-twin engine was leaked over a month ago. The 750cc bit comes from a recent interaction with Siddhartha Lal, CEO, Royal Enfield. He talked about the company’s focus on becoming a global middle-weight motorcycle maker. The Chennai-based manufacturer will focus only on developing motorcycles with displacement between 250cc and 750cc. And the top honcho slightly hinted about a product that would be completely different and something they’ve not done before.

Surprisingly, the image reveals the motorcycle to be running carburettors and not the fake ones you see on Triumphs. The fact that the bike isn’t fuel injected suggests that it will be made ready for the Indian market first, where emissions regulations are much more lenient than European ones. This will also be the first product to come from the British-based Royal Enfield Technology Centre, which was established last year and has been helping the motorcycle brand get up-to-date.

We can expect to see this 750 being launched in India sometime in 2017
