The Scrambler range has been a massive success for Ducati. With the introduction of the Sixty2 last year, they repeated the success story and it looks like Ducati isn’t going to stop there.
Folks at Motorrad Germany have managed to get an image of the 1200 Scrambler prototype that was being tested somewhere in Europe. Unfortunately, there’s just one picture for now and if you look at it, you’ll just see a basic body, which is usually seen on early prototypes. While Ducati hasn’t confirmed its intention to launch a 1200cc Scrambler, we believe that it makes complete sense.
Since the beginning, Ducati was clear that it wants the Scrambler bikes to have its own brand value and character. In order to do that, it needs not just one but a range of motorcycles to keep that brand strong. Firstly, they launched the 803cc Scrambler in lot of versions to cater to the world market. Once that was done, the smaller 400cc Scrambler Sixty2 was launched for the Asian and Japanese markets due to licensing rules. With a strong brand in place, a bigger 1200cc Scrambler would take care of the high-performance needs of the customers.
We’re expecting the Italian manufacturer will stick to the same design language as the other siblings, but will have new paint schemes and few other cosmetic changes to differentiate it. Ducati might showcase or at least tease the Scrambler 1200 either at Intermot or at EICMA 2016.
So stay tuned to BikeWale as we get you more information on this bigger Scrambler.
