Yamaha will launch a new product on January 24. The company is tight-lipped about this new product but it looks like one of their dealers has spilled the beans.
The dealer has released a teaser image on their social media channel. The teaser image shows the front of Yamaha’s rumoured 250cc motorcycle and a text which says ‘A new breed of riders is coming to town’. A quick call to Yamaha to discuss about the authenticity of this image revealed that it’s a genuine teaser.
The Japanese manufacturer has been testing a 250cc single-cylinder around its factory for the last two-three months. This motor generates 20.7bhp and 20.5Nm but that’s for the Brazilian-spec model. It’s still not clear if the India-spec model will get the same power output. We’ve to wait for the official launch to know the full specifications of this bike.
Being a single-cylinder motorcycle, we’re expecting Yamaha to price it competitively between Rs 1.5 lakh and Rs 1.6 lakh making it a direct rival to the KTM Duke 200.
