Royal Enfield Bullet 500 ABS- What else can you buy?

Royal Enfield recently equipped the Bullet 500 with a dual-channel ABS unit and priced it at Rs 1.87 lakhs (ex-showroom, Mumbai). If you are looking for a motorcycle in a similar price range, there are nine options to choose from. Here’s the list.

Now, out of the nine options, three come from Royal Enfield’s showrooms itself. There is the Classic 500, Thunderbird 500 and Thunderbird 500X which are equipped with dual-channel ABS as well. Now, the standard Classic 500 costs Rs 1.99 lakhs. However, it is available in four variants that differ in colour and range from Rs 2.02 lakhs to Rs 2.10 lakhs.

The Thunderbird 500 sports oodles of chrome and is priced at Rs 2.05 lakhs. Its modern-retro counterpart, the Thunderbird 500 X which gets blacked-out components retails at Rs 2.13 lakhs.  The entire Royal Enfield 500 range is powered by the same 499cc, single-cylinder motor that produces 27.2bhp and 41.3Nm of torque.

UM Motorcycles features in this list with the Renegade Commando, Renegade Classic and Renegade Mojave. These motorcycles have not been equipped with ABS as of now. The Commando and Mojave are similar looking motorcycle, with the only difference being their paint scheme and panniers on the latter offered as standard. The UM Renegade Commando and Renegade Mojave are priced at Rs 1.84 lakhs each.

The Renegade Classic like its namesake, sports a classic appeal thanks to the generous use of chrome. It also gets a tall-windscreen and panniers as standard. UM has priced the Classic at Rs 2.02 lakhs.  All three UM motorcycles are powered by a 279cc, single-cylinder motor that produces 24.8bhp and 23Nm of torque.

Mahindra offers the Mojo XT300 at Rs 1.83 lakhs. The touring-focused motorcycle is powered by a 295cc, single-cylinder motor that is good for 26.4bhp and 30Nm of torque. It doesn’t feature an ABS unit yet. In a slightly more aggressive character there is the KTM 250 Duke. The bike borrows the design sharp language of the bigger 390 Duke. Powering the 250 Duke is a 248cc, single-cylinder mill that churns out 29.6bhp and 24Nm of torque.  It carries a price tag of Rs 1.80 lakhs. KTM also offers a fully-faired bike in the form of the RC200 that retails at Rs 1.78 lakhs. The bike uses a 199cc, single-cylinder engine that produces 25.1bhp and 19.2Nm of torque. KTM too hasn’t updated the two bikes with ABS yet.

All prices ex-showroom, Mumbai.
