TVS Phoenix discontinued in India

TVS Motors has stopped selling the Phoenix in the Indian market. With this move, the company no longer has a product in the lucrative 125cc commuter motorcycle segment.

The TVS Phoenix was launched in India in 2012 as a rival to the Honda CB Shine and the Hero Glamour. While the company initially targeted selling 20,000 units a month, stiff competition from its rivals meant that sales never really took off. In the past 12 months, the company has been struggling to sell over 1,000 units a month, and March saw the number drop to just 94 units. With the industry’s move to BS IV emission norms, TVS has decided against updating the Phoenix for the Indian market, halting sales altogether.

However, the TVS Phoenix continues to enjoy a good demand in other global markets. As such, the production lines will keep rolling out the Phoenix for export purposes. There has been no word about a replacement for the TVS Phoenix for the Indian market.
