TVS Motor Company has updated the Apache RTR 200 4V for 2022. The latest iteration of the Apache RTR 200 4V comes with a new headlamp design with an integrated Daytime Running Lamp (DRL) instead of twin-pod units on the 2021 model. The updated design resembles the unit on the latest iteration of the Apache RTR 160 4V. The changes, however, are limited to the headlight setup.
Thus, the 2022 Apache RTR 200 features three ride modes (Sport, Urban, and Rain), preload-adjustable Showa front suspension, a Showa rear mono-shock, TVS SmartXonnect Bluetooth connectivity, and adjustable brakes and clutch levers.
The mechanical specification retains the 197.75cc, single-cylinder, four-valve, oil-cooled engine. Linked to a five-speed gearbox, the motor produces 20.2bhp of power at 8,500rpm and 16.8Nm of peak torque at 7,500rpm. The braking setup includes single discs on both wheels. The motorcycle is available in two variants – single-channel ABS and dual-channel ABS.
The colour choices for the 2022 model include three options – Gloss Black, Pearl White, and Matte Blue.

It offers excellent performance and sharp handling, making it a standout in the 200cc segment. Priced around ₹1.33 lakh ex-showroom, it provides great value for money compared to rivals like the Bajaj Pulsar NS200 and Honda Hornet 2.0

The TVS Apache RTR 200 4V is a popular motorcycle in the Indian market, known for its blend of performance, style, and technology. Here's a detailed review covering various aspects of the bike:### Design and BuildThe TVS Apache RTR 200 4V features an aggressive and sporty design. The sharp lines, muscular fuel tank, and edgy graphics contribute to its sporty appearance. The split seat setup and LED headlamp with DRLs (Daytime Running Lights) add to its modern look. The build quality is robust, and the fit and finish are commendable for its segment.### Engine and PerformanceThe Apache RTR 200 4V is powered by a 197.75cc single-cylinder, four-valve, oil-cooled engine. This engine is capable of producing around 20.5 PS of power at 8500 RPM and 16.8 Nm of torque at 7500 RPM. It comes with a five-speed gearbox. The engine is known for its refined performance, quick throttle response, and linear power delivery. The bike can accelerate from 0 to 60 km/h in around 3.9 seconds, making it one of the quicker bikes in its segment.### Ride and HandlingThe Apache RTR 200 4V offers a well-balanced ride and handling experience. The suspension setup includes telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear, which provide a comfortable ride over various road conditions. The bike's chassis is designed for agility, offering precise handling in corners. The ergonomics are sporty yet comfortable, making it suitable for both city commuting and spirited riding.### Braking and SafetyBraking duties are handled by disc brakes on both ends, with the option of a dual-channel ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) for enhanced safety. The braking performance is strong and confidence-inspiring, providing good bite and progression. The ABS system works effectively to prevent wheel lock-up during hard braking scenarios.### Features and TechnologyThe Apache RTR 200 4V is loaded with features for its segment. It includes a fully digital instrument cluster that displays a range of information such as speed, tachometer, trip meter, gear position indicator, fuel gauge, and more. The bike also offers Bluetooth connectivity through the SmartXonnect feature, allowing riders to pair their smartphones and access turn-by-turn navigation, call/SMS alerts, and other data via a dedicated app. Other notable features include a slipper clutch, GTT (Glide Through Traffic) technology, and adjustable brake and clutch levers.### Mileage and Fuel EfficiencyThe Apache RTR 200 4V delivers a reasonable fuel efficiency for a bike of its performance category. It typically offers around 35-40 km/l, depending on riding conditions and style. This makes it a practical choice for daily commuting as well as weekend rides.### Pricing and VariantsThe TVS Apache RTR 200 4V is available in multiple variants, with and without ABS, and different feature sets. The pricing is competitive in the segment, offering good value for money considering the features and performance it provides.### Pros and Cons**Pros:**- Strong and refined engine performance- Sporty and aggressive design- Feature-rich with modern technology- Good ride and handling balance- Effective braking with ABS option**Cons:**- Vibration at higher RPMs- Could benefit from a sixth gear for better highway cruising- The pillion seat might be uncomfortable for long rides### ConclusionThe TVS Apache RTR 200 4V stands out as a well-rounded motorcycle in the 200cc segment. Its combination of performance, features, and aggressive styling make it a compelling choice for riders looking for a sporty yet practical machine. Whether for daily commuting or weekend rides, the Apache RTR 200 4V offers an engaging and enjoyable riding experience.
