Vespa is a legendary scooter brand that is a part of the Italian conglomerate, Piaggio. Founded in 1946 in Florence, Vespa is one of the oldest two-wheeler brands in the world. The Vespa scooters are known for their design, simplicity, and ability to attract anyone whenever it’s on the road.

The company’s India stint began in the 1960s when it gave the license to Bajaj to produce Vespa scooters. After Bajaj, the Italian scooter brand tied up with LML Motors to manufacture and sell its scooters in India. However, this partnership ended in 1999. Piaggio launched the Vespa brand of scooters in India officially at the 2012 Auto Expo.

Since then, the company hasn’t looked back. It sells six models in India – the SXL 150, VXL 150, SLX 125, VXL 125, Elegance, and the Vespa LX 125. These scooters are sold through two types of dealerships – regular Vespa showrooms and Motoplex- Piaggio’s premium showroom that also sells Aprilia and MotoGuzzi range of bikes.

The word premium is well known in the Indian passenger car industry but the same cannot be said for the Indian scooter industry. Now, through various marketing activities people are being exposed to the world of luxury scooters; credit goes to Piaggio, the Italian automaker who got its premium scooter brand, Vespa in India in 2011. But prior to them, Kinetic was the only company that offered us the premium Blaze scooter which failed because of its price, bad quality and not-so good service backup. This example didn’t stop Vespa from launching their first scooter in India, the LX 125, in 2011. The sales were quite decent and the company gave us the disc brake variant, the VX 125. But the Italian scooter manufacturer didn’t stop there. Their thirst to make most of the segment resulted in the launch of the Vespa S, the most expensive scooter in India.

About my experience:- 1. Nowadays it is really easy to buy two-wheelers. I bought this bike from a showroom in Pitampura, where I had a good experience with the staff. They were very thoughtful and understanding about the whole purchase thing as it was my first experience of buying a vehicle. 2. They gave me a manual about the bike and also demonstrated some of the features for me. 3. Riding the bike has been a very smooth experience for me, it gives low mileage but it's fine for me, and also doesn't give sudden jerks on pressing the brakes. 3. It is of grey in color with a smooth finish. Even after a year, the paint of the bike has not left its metal. 4. It takes a lot of maintenance to maintain the color and looks of the bike. I have to go for its servicing twice a month.

I have been using this scooter for 2 years and now the mileage is about 20kmpl I asked the service centre guys they told that it's common to give such mileage for these scooters.

It's a very good experience to be an owner of the new-gen Vespa scooter. HoThis Italian luxury scooter gives you fulfilled happiness and energy while travelling or riding on it. Happily say the engine power and throttle sound will give you a feel of life on it. Yes, awesome look and design.

Excellent bike. The build quality and looks make it stand out or the best among all scooters available in the Indian market. Drive is smooth and it’s reliable on road . Only consequence is no mobile connect or digital dashboard. Paint quality brakes everything really nice . It will make heads turn when you drive it on the road.
