Aprilia is a brand that has a rich racing heritage, and the company is applying that to the SR150 – it is a sporty scooter whose introductory pricing is not premium at all. A part of the Piaggio Group along with the Vespa brand, the Aprilia SR150 is targeted at the youth who have performance and style as top priorities.
The SR 150 is equipped with a disc brake in the front and drum brake at the rear. ABS is an option for an extra Rs 8000, but will be standard by April. The scooter rides on metallic black alloy wheels. At the front is a standard telescopic suspension while the rear gets a single-side coil spring. The headlamps are integrated into the cowl of the fascia, but the indicators have been positioned on the handlebar. The Aprilia SR 150 is powered by a 150cc engine, which is derived from the Vespa S150. The 154 cc engine makes 11.4 bhp and 11.5Nm of torque. For the 2018 model year, the SR150 has got an optional part-digital instrument cluster that retains an analogue speedometer but switches everything else to a digital unit. Paired with a downloadable mobile phone app, the features include tracking of the vehicle, and locating it in a parking lot, among other things.
There are new variants available for the SR150 as of 2018: there’s black, blue, and the red/white combination that we’re familiar with. Additionally, there is the ‘Race’ version which echoes Aprilia’s racing program designs with the decals. Finally, there’s the Carbon, which is an all-black variant that has faux carbonfibre all over it, and no chrome.
The Aprilia SR 150 is fully localised and is manufactured at the company’s Baramati facility. It competes with the Vespa LX125, Honda Grazia, TVS Ntorq and Suzuki Burgman Street 125. The Aprilia SR 150 is priced at Rs 73,000 onwards (ex-showroom Delhi).
The ARAI mileage of Aprilia SR 150 is 40 kmpl. The average of the SR 150 is 35 kmpl, as per the owners of the bike.

High maintenance.

The maintenance of this vehicle is very high. The design of the vehicle is poor and not in accordance with indian conditions. The chassis parts like swinging arm breaks down and this is supposed to be normal wear and tear according to the service centre. The service center will charge for unreasonable charges such as handling charges, door step charges even if the vehicle has been taken to service center by yourself, outside labour repair charges. The performance is not worth this extra cost and poor service.

Worth the risk!!

The buying experience was awesome with my dealer, as he is a local dealer and I have bought most of my two-wheelers from him. The riding experience of the sr150 is really awesome in my case as I am 6feet 3inches tall. The wide and big tyres provide exceptional grip and also help in boosting the confidence of the rider. I have traveled mostly in the city, so the fuel consumption is an issue, but compared to the performance and the speed at which it helps me reach my destination, I love it!! the abs are kinda tacky sometimes but it's okay.. I would suggest it to be the best for solo riding, pillions face issues sometimes due to its stiff suspension, but this scooter!! it doesn't leave the road no matter what.. From the power to the road presence, to the confidence it gives you.. You'll think 100 times before switching from it.. I love the looks!!Servicing and maintenance are a bit high compared to other scooters, but if compared logically, other scooters will need to go under service at least 3 times a year.. And for me even if I just put my sr150 for service just once a year.. Still, it works fine.. So overall it's not such a big deal..The fuel consumption is a major con, apart from that, the availability of parts also is a con since parts are only available at authorized dealers and service providers.. Its stability and instant torque are a big pro I must say.. I have never been so confident on a scooter before.. I have stopped riding my bike in the city since I got this scooter.. It has been bliss!!
