Kawasaki Versys 1000 [2019-2021] Summary

Kawasaki’s flagship adventure tourer motorcycle, the Versys 1000 received a comprehensive styling upgrade in 2019. Thus, the 2020 upgrade mostly included revisions to the motor to comply with the BS6/Euro-5 emission norms. However, during the emission norm upgrade, Kawasaki also revised the colour palette and the 2020 Versys 1000 is available in two colour options - ‘Candy Lime Green’ with ‘Metallic Spark Black’ and ‘Pearl Stardust White’ with ‘Metallic Spark Black’. Now, the company has announced the 2021 Versys 1000 for the Indian market and it is only available in a single paint option – ‘Candy Lime Green’ with ‘Metallic Spark Black’. The mechanical specifications on the 2021 model are identical to the 2020 version and the Versys 1000 continues to use a 1,043cc, inline four-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces 118bhp and 102Nm. The motor is mated to a six-speed gearbox that benefits from a slipper clutch mechanism. The Versys 1000’s electronic package also features cruise control, two power modes, five-axis Bosch IMU, cornering ABS, and Kawasaki Traction Control (KTRC) with three modes. The braking hardware on the motorcycle includes 310mm dual semi-floating discs on the front and a 250mm disc at the rear. The suspension setup comprises of 43mm upside-down front forks and a gas-charged rear monoshock, both being adjustable. It competes against the likes of the BMW S1000 XR and the Triumph Tiger 1200 in terms of specs. However, it is closer in price to the Honda Africa Twin, Triumph Tiger 800 xR, Ducati Multistrada 950, and the BMW F750 GS.

Kawasaki Versys 1000 [2019-2021] Review

  • Good Things

    • 1000cc engine is smooth, refined and powerful
    • Excellent seating comfort
    • Equipped with adjustable windscreen
  • Could be Better

    • Quite heavy at 255kgs
    • High seat height at 840mm

BikeWale's Take

The Versys 1000 is Kawasaki’s litre-class touring motorcycle. It was designed and developed for people who love to do long distance in comfort. The Versys 1000 is known for its 1000cc refined engine and great seating comfort. But this bike weighs quite a bit and with a seat height of 840mm, it makes it quite difficult to live with it on a daily basis.

Earlier i used to ride z900 but then I got a chance to ride this beast at Kawasaki dealership for test ride. That day only I decided to sell my z900 and go with this beast. I must say its the best bike in the budget plus I always rely on Japanese tech. BMW and Ducati were not up to the mark, as they were filthy expensive and with very high maintenance

Best bike till now offer great power and service cost is less than bmw r 1250 gsa and look is also very good and i love this bike. If you are thinking to buy triumph tiger 900 then you should go for this beast. If you are 5 feet 5inch you will face some problem but you can rude it but if you are less than 5 feet 5 inch then you can not. I am 5feet 7inch tall i ride it very comfortably.
