Live Launch India: Triumph Tiger 800 XCx and XRx

We are here at Delhi for the launch of two adventure motorcycles from Triumph that have been expected for quite some time now. Yes, we are talking about the Tiger 800 XCx and XRx, which were unveiled at the India Bike Week 2015.

The Triumph Tiger 800 XRx is a dual-sport adventure touring motorcycle and the Tiger 800 XCx is a proper off-roader. Both motorcycles are powered by the same engine from the Tiger 800, but feature a lot of new technological wizardry. Built around the same frame as the Tiger, the triple-cylinder 800cc mill produces 95bhp of power and 79Nm of torque and comes mated to a six-speed transmission.

Another highlight is the ride-by-wire feature for a smoother power delivery and better throttle response. Both the Tiger 800 XRx and the XCx get a segment-first cruise control and three riding mode settings. Both the models also feature an electronics package that includes a traction control system and switchable ABS.

Off-road enthusiasts and fans have been craving for such motorcycles in our country and finally two more such bikes are being launched today. Stay tuned as we get you all the details live from the event.

The event has begun and Vimal Sumbly, Managing Director at Triumph Motorcycles (India) Private Limited, is on stage.

Vimal says, Triumph owners have loved the tigers for their power, handling and comfort. Triumph is looking to make the Tiger from one of the better handling motorcycles to the best in the segment, globally.

A video is being played which shows the history of Triumph motorcycles and the company's legacy.

A major reason for the introduction of these bikes is because of the increase in the number of adventure-biking enthusiasts. As a result the new Tiger gets rider-focused technology. The XRx is biased towards street-riding while the other bike caters to off-road biking.

A video explaining the features of the bikes including ride-by-wire feature, cruise control and three riding mode settings is being shown.

The motorcycles get a 2.5-litre under-seat storage which will help the rider store more luggage apart from the stuff that he can load on to the rear section of the bike.

Both the motorcycles get heated grips, adjustable seat and handle bars that can be adjusted by 20mm. Apart from this, 70 accessories are available for customisation.

The production of the motorcycles has started and the bookings have also begun today. The manufacturer will also start dispatching units to dealers.

At present Triumph has 2 CKD facilities globally. One in Brazil and the other here in India. In fact, the Nepal market will be getting the bikes from India.
