The Suzuki GSX250R has been launched in the UK, priced at GBP 4,299 (Rs 3.58 lakh). A successor to the semi-faired version of the Suzuki Inazuma, the GSX-R250 gets racy design cues to bring it in line with the rest of Suzuki´s supersports range.
The styling of the GSX-R250 is inspired by the Suzuki GSX-R1000 superbike. It now gets clip-on handlebars and rearset footpegs to offer a sporty riding position. The instrument cluster has been borrowed from the Suzuki Gixxer. Powering the Suzuki GSX-R 250 is an upgraded version of the Inazuma GW250’s 248cc parallel-twin engine. The engine delivers 25bhp and 23Nm of torque through a six-speed transmission.
The pricing of the Suzuki GSX250R makes it the most affordable bike in its segment, comprising of the KTM RC390, Kawasaki Ninja 300 and the Yamaha YZF-R3. While Suzuki has made its presence felt in the Indian commuter bike segment with the Gixxer, the quarter-litre segment is a tougher market space to crack. The relatively small volumes also make it a risky market space to invest in. Nevertheless, there is a chance that Suzuki might launch the GSX250R in India by next year.
