Before Bajaj Auto became popular for its modern range of motorcycles, it was principally known for its two-wheeler scooter, namely the Bajaj Chetak. After enjoying a long and successful run with it, Bajaj took it off the shelf and shifted its focus towards motorcycles. Then, it was in 2019 that Bajaj brought back the legendary Chetak nameplate in an electric avatar.
As the name suggests, the scooter harks back to its roots by taking design cues from the iconic Chetak and giving it a contemporary and fresh look. It uses sheet metal body panels that offer a premium touch, while the smooth flowing lines, LED lighting and turn signals with sequential blinking similar to high-end cars add to its modernity. It is available in two variants – Premium and Urbane. While the former gets a TFT screen, the latter incorporates an LCD.
Bajaj also offers a new optional TecPac package which facilitates the Chetak with a host of connectivity features like turn-by-turn navigation, onboard music control, call alerts, and theme personalisation options. TacPac also introduces hill hold control and reverse mode.
The Bajaj Chetak Premium variant is equipped with a 3.2kWh IP67 rated lithium-ion battery that delivers a range of 126km. This is coupled with an electric motor producing a peak power of 4kW and 16Nm of peak torque. The top speed it can attain is 73kmph. Meanwhile, the Urbane variant is claimed to deliver a range of 113km and a top speed of 63kmph (73km with TecPac). Opting for TecPac also introduces an additional Sports mode in both variants of the Chetak. Other standard features in the Chetak Premium include self-cancelling blinkers, left and right control switches, an electronic handle lock, and a seat opening switch.

The vehicle is strong and steady. But, when it comes to safety. I am experiencing problems with tyres or design. It is very sleepy even small amount of water on the road. I think the company has to take it seriously. They have to investigate more to find out the root cause. I have used a scooter and scooty previously so I doubt the tyres or design.

Absolutely a bad choice the wheels are the worst they skid off very quickly. To heavy. It gives jerks when you suddenly slow down for example you are ridding at a speed of 30 or 40 and you suddenly slow down you get jerks the person sitting in back seat bumps into you. The braking system is not that good.

Chetak is the best electric vehicle and comfortable vehicle. India's no.1 electric vehicle for Chetak ride is a comfortable feel. Chetak is the first bike in India's not damaged battery problems other battery vehicles face problems with battery damage short circuits and fire the vehicle but Chetak does not complaint about fire or short circuits.

Worst Service Experience

Worst experience ever. Tambaram showroom is where we purchased our premium Chetak EV. They don't tell you the entire details of the vehicle. The vehicle experience is fine so far but not up to the mark. What bothers me the most is their sales and service. They sell the vehicle without proper information about it. There is no such thing as free service and they don't tell you this. You have to pay more than a thousand rupees for every service for software update alone plus charges for other services. As far as the riding range is concerned, never believe the sales. Hardly 80 km for eco mode when driven at 30-40 kmph.
