Honda CB200X Summary

Price: Honda CB200X price for its variant - CB200X Standard starts at Rs. 1,75,058. The mentioned CB200X price is the on-road price of Kolkata.

Honda CB200X is a bike available in only 1 variant and 3 colours. The Honda CB200X is powered by 184.4cc BS6 engine which develops a power of 17.03 bhp and a torque of 15.9 Nm. With both front and rear disc brakes, Honda CB200X comes up with anti-locking braking system. This CB200X bike weighs 147 kg and has a fuel tank capacity of 12 liters.

The Honda CB200X is based on the Hornet 2.0 although with styling that is inspired by the CB500X that is sold through Honda’s BigWing showrooms. So, the CB200X gets a half-fairing that features faux air vents on either side and houses a full-LED headlamp that has been borrowed from the Hornet.

It also gets a tinted windscreen and knuckle guards that come with built-in LED turn signals. Moreover, the CB200X also features a a raised handlebar, engine sump guard, and upswept exhaust as well a comfier split seat setup to complete its touring character. While the changes to the bodywork set it apart from its street bike version, the Honda CB200X offers the same list of features. It gets a full-LED headlamp, tail lamp and turn signals. Honda has also fitted it with a full-digital instrument cluster like the Hornet 2.0.

Powering the Honda CB200X is a 184cc, single-cylinder motor that it shares with the Hornet 2.0. This engine is capable of churning out 17.03bhp at 8,500rpm and 16.1Nm of peak torque at 6,000rpm. It comes mated to a five-speed gearbox.

Now the Honda CB200X is being positioned as a motorcycle that is capable for light off-road riding. However, the suspension hardware is the same as the one on the Hornet 2.0 with upside down forks and a monoshock. The braking hardware is also the same with 276mm disc up front and 220mm disc at the rear accompanied with a single-channel ABS. The only difference here are the tyres. The Honda CB200X’s 17-inch wheels are shod with block-pattern tyres at both ends unlike the road-biased tyres on the Hornet 2.0.

And while the Honda CB200X does not have any direct rivals, it will face competition from the Hero Xpulse 200.

Honda CB200X Review

  • Good Things

    • Styling is quite aspirational
    • Gets upside-down forks
    • Good service reach
  • Could be Better

    • Misses out on long-travel suspension
    • Priced quite high
    • Less pillion seat space

BikeWale's Take

The CB200X is a touring motorcycle based on the Hornet 2.0. In terms of styling, it looks exceptionally good, thanks to the neatly designed fairing. But in terms of specs and performance, the bike is exactly like the Hornet 2.0 and doesn't get any other additional parts to make it more touring friendly.

Honda CB200X Expert Opinion

Honda 2Wheelers India has brought the concept of adventure-style touring motorcycles to the sub-200cc of our market. The new CB200X is based on the Honda Hornet 2.0, although this motorcycle gets a semi-fairing, a windscreen, and dual-purpose tyres. We tested this latest offering from Honda 2Wheelers India for a first-ride review and here are our initial impressions about the new CB200X.

Introduction

Right Front Three Quarter

Honda 2Wheelers India has brought the concept of adventure-style touring motorcycles to the sub-200cc of our market. The new CB200X is based on the Honda Hornet 2.0, although this motorcycle gets a semi-fairing, a windscreen, and dual-purpose tyres. While it may not have a direct threat due to its positioning in the Indian market, it will face some competition from the likes of Hero Xpulse 200 and the Xpulse 200T. On the other end of the competition are the sporty-tourers like the Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 and the Bajaj RS200. We tested this latest offering from Honda 2Wheelers India for a first-ride review and here are our initial impressions about the new CB200X.

The Visuals

Front Fairing

As the name suggests, the CB200X belongs to the adventure tourer category in Honda’s line-up that also includes the CB500X. However, the hardware on the CB200X says otherwise. In fact, Honda itself calls it an Urban Explorer instead of an adventure tourer. While this motorcycle gets a pair of knuckle guards and dual-purpose tyres, it rides on road-biased 17-inch alloy wheels on both ends and boasts a similar ground clearance as the Hornet 2.0 roadster.

windscreen

The design elements such as the semi-fairing and the visor are aimed to provide protection against windblasts, and they do a satisfactory job. Although it does not divert much air away, there’s a considerable amount of buffeting on the helmet.

Head Light

The front fairing gets a beak-style finish to mimic Honda’s higher displacement adventure tourer motorcycles, and the CB200X looks stylish, to say the least. The LED headlight setup features twin LED DRLs while the front turn indicators are integrated into the knuckle guard, thus giving the CB200X a clean look. The dual-tone finish to the fairing looks visually appealing and the radiator shroud design adds a muscular look to the CB200X. The fuel tank can hold 12-litres of petrol. We will get you the exact fuel economy number when we get the bike for a longer duration.

Engine Cowl

The build quality is typical Honda and we did not find anything bothersome during our short stint with the CB200X. It isn't designed to be a proper off-road vehicle and that is evident from the hardware, relatively low ground clearance, and the plastic engine cowl.

The Package

Instrument Cluster

The cockpit comprises a fully digital instrument cluster that is identical to the Hornet 2.0 and very easy to read even during bright daylight. The console, however, misses Bluetooth connectivity which is steadily becoming a common feature of most new products. The information available on the instrument cluster comprises a gear-position indicator, speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, odometer, trip meters, battery voltage, and a clock. Similar to its roadster sibling, the CB200X boasts full-LED lighting and a single-channel ABS as standard. The addition of the hazard light function, too, is a neat feature.

The Ride

Left Front Three Quarter

The new CB200X targets buyers who mostly ride in the city, but prefer touring occasionally. The new CB200X, as mentioned above, is based on the Hornet 2.0 and with the exception of the design, everything is taken directly from the Honda roadster motorcycle. However, the addition of semi-fairing and a taller handlebar enhances the comfort levels further. The windscreen isn’t very tall, and thus provides limited windblast protection. The upright ergonomics aid comfort and a rider can munch miles for long hours on the saddle. The taller position of the handlebar is easy to reach when standing on the footpegs, and that will come in handy when riding off the tarmac.

Right Side View

The suspension tasks are handled by upside-down front forks and a preload-adjustable rear mono-shock and the setup is tuned for sporty riding. However, this results in stiffer ride quality and you would notice most of the undulations on the road.

Side Panel

In terms of performance, the numbers are identical to the Hornet 2.0 roadster. Linked to a five-speed gearbox, the 184.4cc, single-cylinder engine makes the same 17bhp of power at 8,500rpm and 16.1Nm of peak torque at 6,000rpm as the Hornet 2.0 roaster. The engine map and the gear ratios, too, are identical to the Hornet 2.0. The engine packs a sporty sound, and it does not translate into unpleasant vibrations until you venture into the higher rev band. It starts pulling away cleanly above the 3,000rpm mark. The motorcycle feels comfortable while cruising at highway speeds, although you can sense some stress on the engine when you venture closer to triple digits.

Front Disc Brake

The braking setup includes petal-type discs on both wheels while the safety net comprises a single-channel ABS. The brakes feel adequate for the job, however, I would've liked some more initial bite from the setup.

Our Take

Left Side View

The new Honda CB200X is a bold move by the Indian arm of the Japanese two-wheeler maker to capture a share of the growing adventure-tourer segment in our market. The design looks stylish while the build quality is typical Honda. We did not find any unpleasant sounds or improperly installed body panels in our short first-ride review. It retails at a premium price tag of Rs 1.44 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), which makes it nearly Rs 24,000 more expensive than the Hero Xpulse 200.

Left Front Three Quarter

For that price premium, you get nearly similar power and torque output numbers, fewer features, and less off-roading capabilities than the Hero Xpulse 200, and that may influence a potential customer’s buying decision. It does, however, make up for the lack of features through its sporty handling characteristics and a comfortable rider’s triangle. So, excluding the missing Bluetooth connectivity and a stiffer suspension setup, the CB200X is a very likeable motorcycle.

      Overall good experience

      Pritam Ghosh

The buying experience is quite good. Riding experience is good, good pick up, good riding posture, smooth gear shifting.
The look is the most important for this bike. An eye-catching look, everyone notices in the road. Overall 3 color options, the red one is the sexiest.
Now the mileage part, which is near about 43-45 km/l
Till now did not experience any cons.

      Not comfort seat and services

      Zwala

The rear seat is not comfortable! then, the self-start button is not working for five months. While in service, the servicer demands a bribe from dumka service center Jharkhand. The rear tyre is not good on the highway my biggest problem with this bike's rear seat is very very.Mono shock is too strong.

Honda Cb 200x the game changer

      Santosh Kumar

This bike is a masterpiece, its look is awesome, and this bike look is similar to the Honda CB 500x. The Japanese bike maker made this bike to enter the mid-range of the Adventure tourer bike from Honda. The refinement engine is just awesome, and the riding experience is mind-blowing. The only problem I face regarding the pillion rider as the space between the rider and the pillion is less and you will feel exhausted while the ring in long rides, otherwise this bike is a big competition for many of the rivals coming in this price range.

      Tips for other riders

ride safely and use riding gears while moving in highways and on small trails, slow acceleration but adjust it very well after sometime. Ride free and give some time to engine to perform well on roads. Maintaanance is low but keep bike hydrated as it is BS VI engine.

Dashing in style performance & eye catching but clearance & head is very poor

      Sunil

I purchased the bike on may-22.After riding the bike this pro & cons of the bike
      1. Excellent bike for a long drive as well as daily uses.
      2. Style of the bike is eye-catching.
      3. Milage is also good for 200cc segment bikes.
      4. Comfort is good.
      Cons of bike:-
      1. Ground clearance is very low the main stand is getting hit in speed breakers due to low ground clearance. Would expect some more ground clearance in this type of adventure bike.
      2. Pillion seat is a little bit small.
      3. The major con of the bike is the headlight. If you are traveling in the highway then focus & illumination is too bad. There is a chance of an accident if you will not be alert while driving. In high beams also you can't see the road/object if any other vehicle is coming in front of you & putting the focus on you. During this, it will totally blank & the visibility is very less. So, for this type of bike I never expect this type of major issue in the bike.

Ride with style and love your spine !!

      Dr Imran Alam

I was searching for a good good-looking and stylish bike with good Mileage. I was expected to drive daily about 100km so I was very much worried about my posture and spine. Being a physiotherapist, I found CB200x positioning perfect which maintains our spine Alignment in normal posture. Finally, it gives 50km mileage, which is so surprising.
