The Italian maker first entered this fun segment with a 150cc scooter which was later followed by a 125cc one. The SR brand still has a great fan following and manages to entice Indian customers till date.
The SR150 is a sporty scooter and quite a unique one, thanks to the presence of large 14-inch wheels. There’s no other scooter in the country with such large wheels. The SR150 also benefits from a powerful 150cc scooter that delivers good amount of power. The scooter rides on metallic black alloy wheels. At the front is a standard telescopic suspension while the rear gets a single-side coil spring. The headlamps are integrated into the cowl of the fascia, but the indicators have been positioned on the handlebar.
The SR125 is a 125cc variant of the famous SR125. Most of the aesthetics and cycle parts are from the SR150 but the SR125 does get a few exclusive things. The SR125 is built on a tubular steel frame and uses telescopic forks at the front and a single coil spring at the rear for suspension duties. Meanwhile, braking is done by a 220mm disc at the front and a 140mm drum at the rear. The SR125 rides on large 14-inch wheels borrowed from its bigger sibling.
Piaggio launched the SR160 when it increased the displacement due to BS6 emission norms. In terms of hardware, the SR160 retains the same wheels, suspension and brakes. It rides on large 14-inch alloy wheels which are suspended by 30mm telescopic forks up front and a monoshock at the rear. Braking is delivered by a 220mm disc at the front and a 140mm drum at the rear, assisted by a single-channel ABS as standard.
