Style it's a cruiser, and the only one that costs less than inr 3 lacs. Love the simplicity of the analog chrome console.

Engine performance, fuel economy and gearbox engine is very smooth, responds well, no noise, good pickup (useful for overtaking on highways).

I was told that it would give a mileage of 35-40 kmpl, but it is giving me 35 kmpl in the city, and 50 kmpl on the highway. Since i do a lot of highway driving, the average for me comes to about 48 kmpl, but given the powerful 220 cc engine, it is pretty good.

Gear shifting was very smooth to begin with, but recently the gears have been jumping occasionally. It is probably nothing major, maybe the chain needs to be tightened, and should be fixed in the next servicing.

Ride quality & handling very good ride quality, most comfortable bike. Your lower back feels like you are wearing a belt for support. Especially for long rides, there is no fatigue, and it is extremely enoyable. The low centre of gravity means excellent balance, and coupled with the wide rear tyre, it means it the most stable bike i have ever driven.

The length of the bike means that it has a larger turning radius than other more compact bikes, but other than that, the handling and manoeuvrability are excellent, both on highways and in traffic, on plains as well on hills.

The suspension is also pretty good, and though you do feel the potholes and speed breakers, i think pwd is more to blame for that than the bike. The suspension does improve if the weight is more, so it is more comfortable with a pillion.

Final words excellent bike, especially for those who need to commute long distances on a daily basis, or enjoy long rides. The servicing has been awesome. I have owned hero honda, hero motocorp, and yamaha (horrible experience with yamaha!) bikes in the past, and the servicing of bajaj beats all others hands down. So, after you have purchased a bajaj bike, you don't need to worry about technical problems or faults that may arise. Since bajaj's engines are indigenous, and not imported like other brands, even if there is a fault, they are able to fix it. And they do it with a smile.

This is the poor man's harley davidson. If you can't afford to buy or maintain a harley, but can hear the road calling you, go in for avenger. You won't be disappointed.

Areas of improvement since the bike is meant for long drives, it should make sense to have tubeless tyres. If you get a flat tyre, it is a nightmare, because it is virtually impossible to haul this heavy beast. The wheels are spoked, which means you can't even convert them into tubeless tyres. Am still looking for a reliable way to puncture-proof my tyres. Suggestions are welcome.

The fuel tank holds roughly 13-14 litres of petrol. It is quite enough, gives you more than 500 km of range from full tank to reserve, but it could have been bigger, once again keeping in mind that the bike is meant for long routes. But that is not a big hassle, 500 km range is quite enough for almost all purposes.

The handle could have been designed better, a little wider, and a little more curved for greater comfort, but it is still quite relaxing.

Pros

riding comfort, power, ride quality

cons

no tubeless tyres

If you are planning to buy a bike that is powerful, comfortable and stylish, then your search should stop with this bike. Bajaj avenger takes care of all the comforts of the rider, be it seating position or ride on bumpy roads or sheer power.
    1) I purchased this bike around 6 years back in delhi. The buying experience was okay, but just the look of this bike was much more rewarding for me.
    2) riding experience has been awesome. I have taken my bike to the Himalayas and it treads the path without any problem. The maximum I drove in a day was appx 600 km, when I came back to delhi from manali. Besides comfort, this bike is pretty reliable. In the past 6 years, this bike has never failed me(touch wood!)
    3) this bike is certainly a head turner. Performance is beyond expectations. It needs regular service and it will never give you a chance to raise any concerns.
    4) I have ensured that the bike even after 6 years is sent only to trusted service men(preferably showrooms). As I said, regular service is what this bike needs.
    5) this bike has mostly positive points and very few negatives. I have already shared several positives, let me share a few cons too. This bike after a few years feels a little rough(however, regular service takes care of that issue). Mileage is a concern for me, it has never given me more than 40.
Irrespective of the minor shortcomings, this bike definitely makes you 'feel like a god.

I have purchased this bike at the end of 2016. After that, i am facing several issues. The main issue is related to the battery and electric circuit of the bike. For the electric circuit, the battery is always damaged with over heated. Many times I have gone to their authenticate service centre. They always make this right with a huge bill of replacement parts. Then after 6-7 months, it's happening again. I have damage already 6-7 batteries in the last 5years. You can calculate the cost of damaged batteries as well. It's really pathetic experience to have this bike. Besides that, I have other issues with this bike like the chain issue which is unable to resolve by the service centre guys.

Avenger 220 is a classic Indian bike with excellent looks and low in maintenance, i drive my bike only on highways at top speed of 130kmph to 140kmph solo and give shock and awe to other vehicles on highways, you should have the confidence and experience while driving avi at top speeds, braking and stability is just the knowledge you should learn about the bike while cruising at top-speeds, at a price under 1.5 lakhs is reply to high-end bikes.

Best in class in this price segment. High speed of 120+ km/hr which one may get easily from other bikes also but what it offers is the high stability on indian roads with bumps here and there. Brings great confidence to handle on highways. Mileage is decent ranging from 33-35 km/litre on city conditions while cruising at 60-70 km/hr may fetch you an awesome mileage of 40-43 km/litre.

Hard to find spokes for maintenance of Stock rim. Service centre is keen on replacing the parts. However most of them work just fine after re-fitment or oiling etc. Bajaj service centre is poor at delivering optimum service but your active participation while servicing can reduce the chances of extra billing and negligence.

It's a best in the 220cc class. Have owned this bike for last 5 yrs. Traveled over 20,000 kms on this. Initially it was a daily use but later i turned it into a perfect touring cruiser. It's riding position is very comfortable unless you are more than 5.8ft. The cruiser looks are just great. The ground clearance being low doesn't make a big difference on rough roads. Also off-roading is quite possible. Coming to it's performance, it gives a good 45-50kmpl average in the start. Now what i'm getting is 39-40kmpl on highways and in city what i get is 36-37kmpl. But that's not a problem. What more can you expect from it after 5yrs. It has wet clutch which is not soo hard and 5 speed gear box. Now it's speed, what company claims is 118kmph, but i have touched a mind blowing speed of 140kmph. Service and maintenance is excellent and very affordable.Pros :-Stability Fuel economy Cons:-No abs Heats up in summer.

I will start with comfort: yes, this bike is rally a cruise bike with good seat and control.Power: for long ride this bike gives challenges as it is having power of only 220cc. Grip: since rear wheel dimension is small, most of the time bike skids on a steep turns since height of bike is low you can easily control it.Engine: is gives bit of challenge for long ride 100km but for small city ride 30-40km is good.Battery: battery gave me challenge when i left my bike ideal for a bout a week, electric start was not working so i had to push and start bike since kick start is not available.
