Buying a Dominar 400 is surely a hassle free business considering you're paying in complete one time payment. I am unaware how the loan functionality works so I won't comment on it.
As far as Riding Purpose is considered, if you are someone who's picking a bike to rip, then please spare the machine and take a Duke 390. This bike is surely no monster when it comes to performance, but it sure is an all rounder - take it for a Highway Spin or Take It in Breathless Traffic Conditions in the City, IT JUST WON'T GIVE UP AS EASILY AS A DUKE 390, And so is a very reliable machine. Yes it does heat up like it's KTM Cousin, but thanks to the heat flow structure of the Dominar - You won't have Free Leg Waxing as the Duke 390. Cooling Fan Directs the Flow to The Belly Pan, and Hence Minimal Heat is Felt at the Foot area.
The DOMINAR isn't a Racer, but yes it surely is a Back Friendly Cruiser/Highway Roller. There's a special exhaust note when you're accelerating through the rev range of 2000-6000rpm where you hear a sweet hum of the Engine (I find it melodic), post 6000Rpm it still pulls superb till the Bajaj Restricted 9500Rpm mark where it is forced to lose steam. So yes, A Perfect All-Rounder for your Office Commutes or Your Weekend Rides. As a matter of fact, I've owned the Duke 390 2016 too, and oh boy! the seats are comfortable AF on The Dominar - No Sore Butts (for neither rider nor pillion).
Equipped with Uniquely Styled LED HEADLAMPS, IT IS A HEAD-TURNER! So what if it doesn't have the snazzy Orange and White like it's cousin, it looks Spankingly Amazing in the Bronze Red/Blue/Black Combo.
Prior to buying, Many Had Told Me Dominar is A Vibration Machine... I Must Say, It Is All Bullshit.
THERE ARE NO SUCH IRRITATING VIBRATIONS.
it is obvious that if a part is not fastened properly in its place, it may give vibrations. BUT IT SURELY ISN'T AS BAD WITH VIBES AS FAR AS THE DUKE 390 IS CONCERNED. Nor is it like Riding a 2-Wheeled Blast Furnace (referred to Duke 390).
There is one area that Bajaj can surely improve on, and that is either to unleash more from the Rev Range, or just not show a False Rev Range on ODO going higher than 10000RPM. The Space Above 10K RPM is just Redundant! It seems like a Gear Indicator Could have done better justice in that useless space.
I However Like the Way The Bike is Shaped. Yes it isn't the Lightest in its Class, but it sure is the Firmly Stuck To The Ground Machine in the Same Class... Crosswinds is a piece of cake for the Dom to handle, and Thus is The perfect all round package of Looks, Performance, Stability and Comfort.
It's Wrong To Expect it to Clock Speeds of 160kmph or above considering the Price Tag it is offered at for the Features You Get. Yes, Lot Many People May Complain that ABS is Full Time ON, But then, wouldn't it be better to have a Safety Feature ON to save your life than have the Option to Lock Your Wheel Instead.
As Far As Servicing is Concerned - You're taking a Made In India Machine - Made for India too, so Service Costs are nothing to tie you down from buying it. Value for Money Investment and Service Cost too (Rs.1000-1500 per Service). YES, the bike needs regular Chain Care (Lube and Clean every 500kms), after-all that's the main driver for the Rear Wheel from the Engine Mill. Maintain your Chain, And You'll Be Happy With The Bike's Overall Performance. I haven't really found the Headlights as Bad as Many may have Quoted, but I believe the Experience would vary from person to person.
Pros: Price Tag, Build Quality, Performance, Cooling System, Seat Comfort, ABS, Styling, Split Dash Concept, Fuel Economy.
Cons: Absence of Gear Indicator, Rev Range Shown to Go to 12-13000rpm But Goes Only Till 9500Rpm (waste of display space), Absence of Average Fuel Consumption or Range or RESERVE FUEL INDICATOR.
Being my 3rd Bike (previously owned a Kawasaki Ninja 250 and A KTM Duke 390 '16), to all those thinking of buying the Dominar 400 - GO FOR IT!
TREAT IT WELL, AND IT WONT DISAPPOINT YOU.

Tips for Bajaj Dominar 400 [2018]

CLEAN AND LUBE CHAIN EVERY 500KMS. ADVISED TO GET A CERAMIC COATING DONE AS SOON AS YOU PURCHASE THE BIKE (ONCE EVERY YEAR) TO PRESERVE THE COLOUR AND SHINE. CONSIDER YOUR FUEL RANGE TO BE OF 10litres (bar before the last blinking one on the Fuel Gauge).

Personally, I love this bike over all other bikes in this 400-cc category. I do not own this bike currently but I can tell this is the best bike in this segment. It's been my dream bike since its first launch in 2018.
When the model of the bike launched with an update in 2022, I decided to buy this bike, but because of some family issue, I couldn't buy this bike. But in 2024 I am going to own a Dominar d400 ECE OBD2.

One of the best bike .. In this segment .. With best buying experience i ever feel .. Bajaj jodhpur ..Fully comfortable riding position and even pillion don’t feel any pain in back or anything like it .. Looks are really amazing if the Bajaj logo is not on engine than half of the people don’t know which company is manufacturing the beast.. With great acceleration and breaking .. Not so costly for servicing of dominar 400 .. It’s a 400cc bike.. Not like a splendor.. Don’t compare them for service cost.. One of the best sound i ever listen .. Because it feels like a 1000 cc bike same sound .. Really if you buy it .One of the best decision ..

This is comfortable for cruising, breaking, speed and etc is best acceleration is like a horse and design like robot is very attracting but breaking is very poor ,terrible i think if rear break performance becomes well then rider will feel comfortable.I request to bajaj please work on this and if mileage will increase then this will be the most popular bike for riders.

  • A bike ride a day keeps the doctor away.

    1. Buying experience - well i had to say one of the best bike that i had owned i had earlier had pulsar 220 f and had to change for the new version or lets say time to upgrade and at first i thought of going for bullet 500 but was not happy as i like to enjoy while riding i mean to take the curves and to bend the time as i love the sports version and went to thunderbird 350, but was not happy and all my friends suggested to go to ktm duke 390 cc but lets say i am from middle class family and i cant afford the budget and yes the bike requires lots of maintenance and will be a issue for me latter and the same goes to yamaha r3 which i have to admit the bike is class apart but for the price for 320 cc is way to much and finally i though i will adjust with pulsar rs200 but finally saw the beast standing there, fell in love at first sight the bike is good, heavy, road grip is good, comes with an dual abs and slipper clutch and value for money and for my size lol :-) i mean by my looks it is the perfect bike and hence owned the bike at first sight. And thats how i got to own the bike 2 - riding experience - well had to say the bike lives for his reputation and i mentioned earlier the bike look massive it gives you a feel as if your owing a really good bike that is for the middle class family and i use by bike for everyday use and to be honest i don't regret a single day as the performance is good and good handling and and always loved it while taking nice curves and also i don't get any back pain if i go for a long ride and smooth as well.3 - details about looks, performance - well we all know the tail light is being copied from ducati which is my favorite bike and i don't mind as well and i really love the head light which is very bright and always love to irritate on coming and in night time the head lamps is really very useful its powerful and can cover some long distance and the tank look good gives the feel of a mini sport bike and when it comes to the performance overall and could feels the rush you raise the bike in 1st and 2nd gear and over all when you take the bike in high way it is a piece of cake as when compared to the weight the road stability is outstanding.4 - servicing and maintenance - we all know why we go for the bajaj because of the less service cost and thats an advantage for me as the parts and the services is well inside the budget and not bad as for 400cc the overall good services will cost you around 4k max and the services is not bad and ya overall when it comes to services it is good and affordable and when it comes to maintenance we all know we like to rip the bike we cannot denied that but in dominar the maintenance it is very easy, coz trust me i ride very harsh and love to race still the bike is been maintained well and not only that a time to time services the bike is good as new and and rest is assured.5 - pros and cons - advantages - good bike for a good budget not to shabby good road stability and overall design is amazing and does not let you down and not only that if you know how to ride a power cruiser trust me guys ull have big time fun and services is less and the parts is within your pocket money coz its bajaj guys Non advantages - well as i love the bike i have noting to complain over here as it is my personal opinion and i am not boosting over here guys to be honest every guy as his own feedback when it comes to his bike but here this feedback is only for ppl who owns dominar and few things to be improved as in less weight and little more or raw power well that is been redesigned to the latest dominar which led me to speechless as far as i know the bike is been amazing and i will say it again from the day i owned this bike have not been disappointed and everytime i take my baby out feels like am driving it for the first time every day i feel the adeline rush and happy to share my review on this and again this is just for people who owned dominar good job hope you guys are not been disappointed Thanks you and always ride safe and follow the traffic rules because some one is always waiting for you and at the same time enjoy riding your beast.

  • Dominator of the segment

    Sai Charan

Well i consider this as a great update from your 150-200cc lifestyle. The bike is a package of many elements for such a reasonable price. Imagine having a bike which gives you around 30kmpl mileage at any riding condition and can even run upto 160 kmph without any strain and comes under 2.2 lacs. What is a better deal than this? The riding experience should be elaborated. In 18 months i rode about 24k kms on this. For touring, daily commute and short rides. I felt like god when i drove it from pondicherry to hyderabad in less than 11 hours (800kms approx) and the bike is still not feeling tired. I rode in extreme traffic conditions where some austrian competitors might stop off overheating issues, but this didn't even trouble me a bit. Ride it i'm heavy rains in tough gravels of lonavala hills and didn't give me a problem. I twisted the throttle towards 154kmph on a highway and didn't have any fear about braking. Of course my friend's 2019 model did 163+ simultaneously. It is capable of bringing from 125 to 80kmph in less than 2.5 secs. The trustable braking. What else can i ask for if it runs at 140kmph with a 10-12kgs of tailbag on the pillion seat and can easily reduce speed when i suddenly saw a speed breaker in the middle of a road. The best bike of the segment can i quote? The looks are also a killer on the bike. I remember every moment when people chased me on their bikes just to have a clear look of this black beast and were astonished to hear bajaj as something of this kind in their lineup. Ofcourse the knuckle guards gave an aggressive look for it though. The mid range torque is the best thing on this bike. The moment you touch 4k rpm and subconsciously you get a feeling that the power output stops now like any other bike you have rode till then and suddenly you see a spike in the power and the bike kicks out of the surroundings. What else is needed when you have all these looks, performance, braking, torque, decent mileage and all those under 2.2 lacs. Well servicing is a bit pain because we don't have better service centres in hyderabad for dominars. There are a couple of popular service centres for dominars but getting optimum service is purely based on your luck. Maintenance is minimal i would say for a 400cc power cruiser but you need to spend more bucks at intervals of 10k and 20k kms because of the change of essential parts. I already have listed the pros of the bike i feel, power, braking, mileage, looks, maintenance, price everything is a pro for this machine. We also have the cons of not having proper service technicians is a major con. And the seat, i would say is a bigger pain. The bike goes 100s of kms hassle-free but you can't sit on the stock seat for more than 2 hrs continuously if you are not a regular rider or not using a butt saving accessory for yourself. The pillion seat is much worse. Don't even think of pillion for rides more than 250kms. And one bigger concern i faced is the chance of a regular mechanic or roadside technician is ready to work on the bike. Even things like small electrical upgrades or chain tightening issues. They don't dare to take it and work on it. Maybe because of its huge looks i don't know. But that's a bigger problem as you can't visit to showroom every other time to get things done. So get yourself accustomed to small works on the bike. In the midst of all these things, i would recommend this as a good choice of upgrade if your budget is less than 2.2 lacs and you need a powerful machine. And the 2019 model is a much better upgrade because of this new exhaust and added electronic features.

Almost 9000 km i have completed on the bike and i am completely disappointed with my decision by purchasing this bike. After third servicing on 7700 km i have to show it to service center 3 times, out of which 2 time engine down within a month period. For coolant and oil mixing. I launched complaint but pathetic reply from bajaj auto they do not have any respect for the customers. I really frightened to take the bike on ride now. My personal opinion there are couple of better option than dominar.

Looks are good.....Mileage getting 28 mix conditions....Service ok......Go for himalayan or xpulse for better suspension setup. Dominar not good for bad roads. On highways u will enjoy dominar.... Vibrations are on higher level... Even at 90 u feel handlebar, foot pegs . Seats..Continuous vibrations which is not comfortable.

  • A bike you should own.

Change oil every 3000 km, drive carefully do not do rush driving, and use tubeless tires. Don't drive when you have some issue with the bike engine or transmission or other type of issue.
