Got mileage of

48 kmpl

Riding bajaj bikes forever in our family, & i am riding pulsar since 2012. Last december bought my second one, the 150 classic, just before neon came into fray. And definitely i love this bike. Vfm, powerful, now more refined than before, & more mileage too. Also very basic build design accesses easy & quick repairs, even some i do myself. My old one gave around 43 kmpl, this one gives 45-48, city-highway. I always prefer riding with my tank full, & refill after every 200km to ensure best performance & mileage. I also use very lean air-fuel mix to get best possible mileage, but keep the engine at steady revs, around 1100 rpm, so that it doesn't hiccup. One & only tip for any & every bajaj bike - don't keep a problem for later, parts are damn as hell cheap, so go for it, & it will keep your bike literally maintenance free. My previous one, in 6.5 years, had a total maintenance cost of around 7500, except engine oil changes, which i do myself. The cost includes everything - from brake shoes, pads, brake oils - to clutch cables, accelerator cables, bearings, one time clutch assembly replacement after 35000 km, etc. Our discover 100, same age now, has even lesser expense, gives 58 kmpl average on city conditions. Another thing, bajaj makes rev happy engines, so use best quality engine oil to ensure maximum performance & engine life along with added refinement. I prefer motul 5100 semi-synthetic oil for my pulsar, after 5000km. It also has good drainage interval, 3500-4000 km, depending on your riding style. So if you care for your bike well, bajaj is the best you can be satisfied with in a compact package.

Tips for Bajaj Pulsar 150

Major maintenance tip for Bajaj motorcycles is - Don't leave a problem for later, no matter how small it is. Parts cost way cheaper than any other brand, be it Indian or foreign, & replacing a few of them will ensure you can keep your pocket happy & mind calm. Definitely you can own a Bajaj for years, provided you use good quality engine oil (I prefer Motul, initially 3100, after 5000 km 5100 semi synthetic for daily commute), drain mineral oil between 2000-2500 depending on oil film strength (for semi synthetic 3500-4000), keep chain lubed & properly tightened every 1000 km (for open chain a bit more frequently), & adjust wearing parts like clutch cable, accelerator cable, brake shoes, pads, gear levers regularly, if necessary change them. Use good quality tires with proper air pressure, but keep in mind softer tires provide better grip in expense of fuel economy. So if you want both, go for tires with good grip for most road conditions.

When we drive the pulsar 150 Cc then their control is good and their sitting portion and seat and side fiber are too good and their breakfront and back and the front Disc break and back break is so hard and their handle is comfortable to grab their handle and their head is looking awesome.

  • The absolute G.O.A.T!!

    Aditya Sharma

I first got the taste of the pulsar 150 back in the year 2014 when I got to lay hands on my uncle's 2007 model, after that the very same year we ourselves got a black colour pulsar 150 and have had it since then and very recently I had the opportunity to ride a 2023 single disc variant of the pulsar 150. Here are my thoughts on how the motorcycle is overall, it's pro's and cons after more than a decade of ownership.
First up the bike itself is the G.O.A.T of the segment being the one who started the sports bike for masses trend in India and there are no two ways about it.
    THE PROS!!
    1. The engine = The 2014 model that I own produces 14bhp which is 0.2 bhp more than the outgoing model(13.8bhp) which makes the bike feel a little bit more agile when opening up the revs. The engine is the sole reason why the 150 is able to sell in numbers even today because the sporty characteristics of it is unrivalled and encourages the rider to rev it hard in order to extract every last bit of performance and fun.
    2. The design = The iconic pulsar design with twin tail lamps and twin parking lights at the front are just irreplaceable and even the overall silhouette of the bike remains true to the original one to this date which I feel is another factor contributing to it's good sales numbers. No matter what automotive journalists have to say but people still want to be seen on a pulsar that look the original one.
    Now to the CONS!!
    1. Parts quality / Fit and finsih = The harsh truth about owning a pulsar is that the quality of some of the parts is not that great and fit and finish is also questionable. In my ownership experience I have faced difficulties in maintaining few of then such as the head unit, the tank extensions and the side panels. All these plastic units tend to break very easily and are very expensive to replace.
    2. Fuel economy = When you're buying a 150cc bike you are going to expect a fuel economy of somewhere between 50-55 kmpl but that is not the case with the pulsar. Yes it does return these kind of numbers if ridden in a very certain manner but as soon as you start opening the throttle, holding the revs and ride to enjoy and ride how it should be ridden the fuel economy drops significantly and you will not go past the 45kmpl mark.
    3. The weight = The bike weighs in at 148kgs which is just too much for a 150cc bike, when you compare this with the pulsar's main rival, the Apache rtr 160 it weighs a whole 10kgs less at just 138kgs. This I feel is something that Baja should work on to make the 150 a bit lighter.
Final thoughts are that if you want a bike that has good power on offer, has the history behind it and does not want to spend more than 1.5lakhs on it, there are very few bikes that will appeal asmich as the Pulsar 150 does but as soon as you take your budget beyond 1.5 lakhs enters the Apache RTR 160 which is lighter by 10kgs and produces 2.2bhp more than the pulsar, the hero Xtreme 160r that again weighs almost 10kgs less and produces 1bhp extra or even the N150 is a much better product than the pulsar 150 is.
Thus, those you are not willing to spend a penny extra should go for the 150 as there is no better option than it but as soon as you extend your budget the choices become much more varied and better.

    Aryan Vasava

The best bike I purchased 2 years ago is a Bajaj Pulsar 150 twin disc.
I got this bike from Ankleshwer Bajaj showroom with 24 months EMI and a 30,000 down payment.
I just completed 30,000km in two years, and satisfied, no riding issues, and a smooth experience.
The looks of the Bajaj Pulsar 150 are stylish and cool of this segment and the black and blue color looks wow, and this bike gives you the best performance at 150 cc, and the top speed is 131km/hr I tested even pickup speed is quick and faster.
There are too less costs of maintenance in this bike, just give time to-time service from the showroom. Even if don't want it serviced then no need to go to the showroom, just change the bike engine oil from time to time, and that's it!
There are no cons to this bike if you are a normal rider even if you want to faster ride no need to worry because it gives much power and smooth performance at 150cc.
This bike gives you the best mileage and performance!!

Bought Pulsar 150 neon in March 2019. The initial experience was good but the condition deteriorated after that. I normally use the bike for daily commuting and generally keep rpm below 6k. The engine is very unrefined and gives vibration at and after 4k rpm. The rear tyre looks tilted from its angle and the Bajaj servicemen say that it can't be corrected. The rear suspension is very stiff.

The acceleration is swift, allowing for quick overtakes and a thrilling riding experience. The engine is smooth, with minimal vibrations. It gives me joy and a thrilling experience while riding.
