The BMW F900 GS is the successor to the F850 GS with almost the entire motorcycle having gone through major updates. BMW has tried to make it more capable in every possible way and it is expected to be launched in India in a couple of months.
Powering the bike is a bigger 895cc, twin-cylinder engine that produces 105bhp at 8,500rpm and a peak torque of 93Nm at 6,750rpm. The engine mapping has also been revised to get the power bump. Underpinned by a bridge-type frame, the bike rides on a 21-17-inch cross spoke wheel combination that is suspended by 43mm USD forks and a monoshock, both being fully adjustable. Braking is handled by a pair of 305mm discs up front and a single 265mm disc at the rear.
One of the most significant updates has come in the form of weight reduction over the F850 GS. Due to a lighter sub-frame and more minimalistic body panels, the bike weighs 14kg less at 219kg. The ergonomics have been tweaked, too, by lowering the footpegs and moving the handlebar a bit towards the rider. These changes should make the bike easier to ride in off-road conditions.
In terms of features, this new BMW ADV is decently loaded with tech. The list of standard equipment includes a TFT instrument cluster with Bluetooth, LED lights, keyless ignition, multi-level traction control, multiple riding modes, BMW’s ABS Pro, and heated grips. Other adventure-centric components include an engine guard, hand protectors, and adjustable gearshift and footpeg levers. The list of optional equipment is also a long one with keyless ride, TPMS, Shift Assistant Pro, and more.
