BMW G 310 GS [2021] Summary

The 2020 BMW G 310 GS features an all-LED headlamp as well as LED turn indicators that are different from the ones on the TVS Apache RR 310. This LED setup makes the the baby GS look a bit more muscular from the front.

BMW has also added interesting new paint schemes to the G 310 GS’ palette. This Rallye paint scheme consists of a blue and silver colour with bright red trellis frame and graphics. You can also have the ‘40 Years Edition’ colour combination of black and yellow or the Polar White paint scheme.

Powered the 2020 G 310 GS is a BS6-compliant, 313cc, single-cylinder engine that produces 34bhp at 9,500rpm and 28Nm at 7,500rpm. However, it now benefits from an assist and slipper clutch that prevents the rear wheel from hopping under downshifts. As part of the update, the motorcycle also gets adjustable clutch and brake levers. Furthermore, it is also equipped with a ride-by-wire throttle but surprisingly doesn’t offer ride modes like its TVS counterpart.

The anchoring setup on the G 310 GS BS6 includes a 300mm disc and a 240mm rotor at the front and the back, respectively; while the safety net comprises of dual-channel ABS. The suspension tasks are handled by 41mm upside-down forks at the front and a preload-adjustable mono-shock at the back.

In terms of competition it goes up against the KTM 250 Adventure and the Royal Enfield Himalayan.

BMW G 310 GS [2021] Review

  • Good Things

    • One of the easy riding adventure bikes in the market
    • The seating ergonomics is very comfortable
    • Brakes have good bite
  • Could be Better

    • 313cc engine develops vibrations at high revs
    • The six-speed gearbox is clunky
    • Expensive to maintain

BikeWale's Take

The G310GS is one of the few adventure touring motorcycles in India. It offers a comfortable riding position which makes it a good for long-distance touring. However, with a less vibe-y engine and smoother six-speed gearbox, it could provide a much better experience. The new version is priced quite well, but its service continues to be on the expensive side.

BMW G 310 GS [2021] Expert Opinion

In order to find if the G 310 GS BS6 actually feels any better in the real world, we spent some time with the motorcycle, comprehensively scrutinising it in every scenario possible.

It's very comfortable adventure bike also great handling

The tubeless tire gives you a tension-free ride on hill stations and also on long rides. It gives a great handling experience in off-roading .it's a very comfortable adventure bike also great. Also on the road of heavy, it makes the speed to reach destination easier whether making daily rides around the city or trips into the surrounding area. In the typical relaxed GS seat position, you have a perfect view of every adventure. Find out all about the technical data and extensive standard equipment here.

This is one of the most affordable bmw bikes in the market. The looks, riding quality, and features are really great. I have done a Rajasthan tour on this and absolutely no problem or no fatigue. Very well ergonomically designed and it is definitely likes you are owning a bmw gs family bike. Nevertheless to say this is surely head turner.

Bmw g310 deserves the bike of the year in all respects.

      George Jones

I always wished to have an imported bike for adventuring. Just took a good test ride on bmw g310 at the showroom. Stunning looks, technically built, and superb suspension which is very necessary for Indian road conditions. In India adventure bikes are only from royal enfield, they are ok but the suspension is too hard for long rides. The bmw g310 is an on road/off-road bike. A perfect bike for adventure riders and college teens. I have decided to buy this bike on diwali.

Riding experience: the riding experience is so good long ride touring.
Performance: It's so good responsive throttle in the low-mid-high range you can enjoy the comfortable ride. Servicing and maintenance: Expensive service but it's worth it.

Value for money and good for new bikers

      Buying experience (5/5):
The buying experience was great. Folks at the showroom were very helpful, smiling, and were answer each and every query of mine. This is my first bike so i had a lot of questions. The on-road cost went to 3.8l, which was 20k more than the budget i had, and the sales team was very hard to bargain with! :)
      Riding experience (4/5):
Right out of the showroom, i could feel vibrations in the bike at low speeds. Along with that, there is a weird knocking sound (which i am assuming is coming from the chain), for which i took the bike to the service station within the first week of buying it. They weren't able to diagnose the issue, and i left with the hope that the sound will go away post the first service, which is scheduled in 2 months (or 1000 km). The bike, overall, is very comfortable and not so heavy or tall for me. I am 5'8'', and i can balance the bike easily.
Acceleration is great and it doesn't stall or take hiccups even while riding on high gears but at low speed. Very very smooth, indeed.
Gear shifts, during the first week, were a pain in my rear. Neutral just won't click. But after riding it for 2 weeks (~60 km), the gear shift has become much smoother. Again, i am hoping it'll get better after riding more and post the 1st service.
Details about looks, performance, etc (4.5/5):
The seats are very comfortable. The handlebar is wide and gives you a good and commanding position.
I, personally, like the design. It does not look too big or too small. Fit and finish, surprisingly, are not as per what i was hoping for, considering it is a bmw. For example, the front panel (the plastic structure surrounding the instrument cluster) is not center-aligned! it is a millimeter to the right and is unfixable. It is hard to notice, but i have a thing for alignments and it just breaks my heart every time i notice it.
The tail unit is wobbly too, and i can feel a few vibrations in the foot pegs, tank, and handlebar while riding at low speeds and low gears.
Road presence is nothing to sing about (just the way i like it). It does not grab a lot of attention and the exhaust sound is smooth too. You can park it anywhere and not worry, because it'll blend with a lot of other daily bikes. But yes, i have experienced a couple of instances of people standing a little too close to the bike, especially during signal stops, to check it out.
The mileage that i have got so far is ~27 km/l (100% city and in-traffic riding), which i am hoping will touch 30 or will go even beyond post the first service and on an open stretch.
      Servicing and maintenance:
Yet to get the first service done, but my short experience of dealing with the team at the pune service station was good. Good infrastructure and service. Also, you get to see a few really nice-looking bikes, parked and admire the beauty till your bike is being diagnosed.
      Pros:
      1. Design
      2. Exhaust note
      3. Seating and handlebar comfort
      Cons:
      1. 11 liters tank capacity
      2. Mild vibrations
      3. Gear shifts

      3. Gear shifts

Spare parts not available, poor service, poor customer service, high maintenance cost

Design & comfort is good. But the service cost , very poor service, spare parts shortage and poor customer service forced me to give one star. Nearly 50000 Rupees I spent for maintenance for 20000 km.
Third service - Changed front fork seals to in that service. I already asked them to check the battery when i went for service. But after service starting trouble doesn't fixed. After 500 km fork oil seal starting to leak again. I called service center and they said there was no stock I contacted bmw motor customer care & after 4 week there no proper response. I would never recommend this bike for any one. Now my bike is in garage & can't ride because of starting issue and there is no parts available in open market to fix this problem too.
