Ducati 1299 Superleggera Summary
There’s exclusive, and then there’s the Ducati 1299 Superleggera exclusive. A grand total of 500 units will be made globally, and they’re destined for racetracks, although they technically can be ridden on the road as well. The Superleggera is the first of the new breed of extreme hyper-sport motorcycles that have left no carbon fibre sheet behind in their quest for shaving grams off the kerb-weight figure. Power is at a WSBK-level 212bhp and there are enough electronics to compete with Deep Blue. The promotional video is a montage of tyre-shredding violence around a racetrack, half of which has the Superleggera leaned over and sideways, only to hoick the front wheel on the exit of the corner.
If you have the talent to exploit all that the 1299 Superleggera has to offer on a racetrack, or the arms to hold on for dear life, or merely pockets deeper than the Mariana Trench, this is the motorcycle for you.
