The Ducati Hypermotard SP is a high-riding dirt bike-inspired motorcycle, based on the Monster 821’s platform. A niche product, the Hypermotard SP has earned its own fan following thanks to its ludicrous looks and the raw character.
The Ducati Hypermotard SP ticks all the right boxes for an exotic supermoto. The raised front fender, hand guards, tall seating, edgy headlamp and long suspension travel give the motorcycle a radical look. It is built around a trellis frame, and powered by the 821cc 11-degree Testastretta engine borrowed from the Monster 821. The engine is available in a higher state of tune than the streetfighter, with three rider modes - high torque (110bhp), progressive medium torque (110bhp) and progressive low torque (75bhp). The Hypermotard SP also gets sophisticated Ohlins suspension, ride-by-wire throttle, slipper clutch, traction control and an ABS system.
The Hypermotard SP is offered in a special Ducati Corse livery. However, with an ex-showroom price close to Rs 20 lakh, the Hypermotard SP costs almost twice as much as the standard Hypermotard, making it quite an expensive proposition for what it offers. The Hypermotard SP rivals other exotics like MV Agusta Brutale 1090, Moto Guzzi Griso and the Aprilia Dorsoduro.
