Ducati says that the Hyperstrada is a new type of motorcycle. To us though it looks like an extension of the Hypermotard family, but with ergonomics that also support touring and a bit of track activities. The Hyperstrada was first unveiled at the 2012 EICMA event in Italy and looks like a mini version of the touring motorcycle, the Multistrada.
The Hyperstrada which has been developed for touring and urban commuting looks very aggressive - thanks to the dirtbike-inspired design elements. Like the rest of the Ducati lineup this motorcycle also gets a steel tube trellis frame. It has touring screen, touring seats, passenger grab handles and also a centre stand. The rest of the features are common to the entire range including 3-level ABS, 8-level traction control, ride-by-wire throttle and selectable riding modes that changes power delivery.
The Hyperstrada gets an 821cc Testastretta liquid-cooled L-Twin engine that churns out 110bhp of power at 9250 rpm and 89Nm torque at 7750 rpm. The mill is mated to a six-speed gearbox and the motorcycle has a kerb weight of 204kg.
Talking about pricing, the Ducati Hyperstrada is expected to be cost around Rs 18 lakh on road in India owing to 75 per cent customs duty.
