The Monster series is easily one of the most aggressive looking motorcycle series from Ducati. With more than six bikes under this name, Ducati has managed to bring in a lot of sales. The Monster 821 Dark is one of them.
Based on the Monster 821, the Dark gets a blacked out theme with the same colour doing the duty on the frame and the wheels. The Italian manufacturer wanted to give the Monster a stealth mode and that’s when the Monster 821 Dark was born. The Ducati Monster 821 is powered by an 821 Testastretta L-Twin engine that produces 112hp at 9250rpm and peak torque of 89 at 7750rpm. This engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox that transfers power to the rear wheel via a chain drive. The bike tips the scale at 179.5kg, giving it an impressive power-to-weight ratio.
Just like the other Ducatis, the Monster 821 Dark is loaded with cool equipment. The bike gets the Ducati Safety Pack as standard, along with the ABS system and 8-level Ducati Traction Control. The ABS can be switched off by the rider whenever he wants to. Interestingly, the ABS-Off option can be selected from the Riding Modes configurations and stays on even after turning the ignition off. The Monster 821 Dark is equipped with a ride-by-wire system with three engine maps - 112bhp (Sport) for sports delivery, 112bhp (Touring) for progressive delivery and 75bhp (Urban) for city use. While all the three riding modes are pre-set for each of the three parameters, the rider can customise it as per their needs.
The new Monster 821 is fitted with an adjustable seat that can be adjusted. The standard seat height can easily be adjusted to the lowest (785 mm) or highest (810 mm) positions. In addition, two optional seats allow riders to lower it another 20mm (765/790 mm) or even 40mm (745/770 mm).
Ducati Monster 821 Dark is sold in India as a completely built-up (CBU) unit via Thailand. The bike is available across all Ducati showrooms in India.
