Introduction

JCMoto can’t get enough of the Hero Xpulse 200 it seems. First, the custom parts and motorcycle building and restoration house did the fork brace, then the enduro footrests, and now it has launched a triple clamp or T-clamp. As with the earlier parts, this one focuses on improving the Xpulse’s ride performance off the road.

The Construction

The triple clamp uses an all-aluminium construction and is CNC-ed out of one piece of metal. Not only does this give the triple clamp an expensive look, but it adds to the clamp’s strength. The clamp comes with two Allen key bolts to give the clamp a more secure fit on the suspension tubes. And apart from holes to accommodate the key and steering stem, it also comes with two sets of handlebar mounting holes.

The JCMoto triple clamp offers a larger clamping area than stock to improve rigidity. It should, in principle, make the motorcycle more stable over bumpy dirt sections. Furthermore, there is less chance of twisting the front when the bike is subjected to severe impacts or even dropped regularly. Additionally, the clamp is available in silver as seen here or in a red anodised finish.

The set also includes bar clamps that offer a fair degree of adjustability for height and reach. These are also available separately and retail for Rs. 3,500. The bar clamps are made from high-grade aluminium and can accommodate 7/8 or fat bars from Renthal and the like, in addition to the stock handlebar. In terms of fit and finish, much like the triple clamp itself, the bar clamps too exude a high degree of solidity, premiumness, and good craftsmanship.

The Promise

According to JCMoto, the triple clamp alters the stand-up ergonomics of the Xpulse. The change allows the rider to transfer more weight to the front of the motorcycle, which, in theory, should help with traction on dirt. Furthermore, the triple clamp makes it easy to fine-tune riding ergos without adding any new components.

With two sets of holes, the rider can choose to mount the handlebar closer or make more room by plugging it into the forward set of holes depending on his or her height or arm’s reach. The clamp comes with offset risers as standard. These risers further allow the rider to work on the handlebar height by offering three positions and four offsets to adjust the reach more precisely.

JCMoto claims that this is one of the best ergonomic upgrades one can make for the Xpulse, if improving one’s off-road riding skills is on the agenda.

What's next?

Next time, we will have the triple clamp installed by JCMoto. We will try the various handlebar positions the clamp offers. And we will measure the difference between the stock and JCMoto units. We will also take the motorcycle to our favourite trail to see how the new clamp changes the ride feel. And finally, we will tell you what the marriage between the triple clamp and the JCMoto enduro footpegs feels like compared to the stock setup.
