Introduction

Suzuki V-Strom SX Right Rear Three Quarter

My love for long-distance riding has grown multi-folds over the last few years. This is primarily due to two reasons – the number of new bikes launched in the segment and secondly, the roads have gotten better in terms of tarmac quality and safety. So, I have done many 2,000km rides and loved every bit of it. But my problems with a perfect, trustworthy, and easy-to-use luggage system continued. I was using a few bags but could never settle for the right one. And then I heard about this new tail bag from Rynox. It is called the Navigator 50L and looks extremely promising. The folks at Rynox sent us one unit to experience and test, and I grabbed the opportunity.

The 50L in the luggage name stands for its overall capacity of 50 litres. So, it is clear that the Rynox Navigator 50L is a multi-day luggage system meant to accommodate many things inside. Even the rectangular-oval shape of the bag suggests its heavy-duty nature.

The brand claims that the Navigator 50L is its most advanced bag yet. It has been made using materials that are primarily used by defence forces. In fact, Cordura fabric has been used to build the outer shell of the bag. There's some PU coating as well that gives an additional level of protection. The other major highlight of this tail bag is its versatility. Thanks to two smartly hidden straps and a duffle bag, it can also be used as a backpack using three grab handles. Then, there's also a provision to hook a helmet when used as a backpack.

In terms of storage, the Navigator has lots of space. While the bag can be used by just putting in the required luggage, the three dry bags help in arranging the luggage in a proper manner. These dry bags, one 24-litre bag and two 12-litre bags, also prevent the contents from getting wet. The brand, however, recommends three folds of the roll-top closure for the waterproofing to work. There's also a space to add more cargo between the two top flaps, and it looks ideal for carrying things like tents.

The Navigator 50L comes with four quick-release mounting straps with G-hooks. These straps can be placed under the seat or frame – depending on one's liking. All the straps get full adjustability which is a must as many riders love to access the luggage during the ride. This tail bag also gets the famous MOLLE system, where additional packs can be installed. Again, this is a much-needed feature for riders who go on expeditions often.

Pricing

The Rynox Navigator 50L is priced at Rs 6,350 and comes with a year's warranty. It can be purchased from the brand's official website and select retailers in your city.
