Bajaj CT125X
The Bajaj CT125X continues to be the most affordable 125cc bike on this list. But compared to the previous year’s asking price, the CT125X has witnessed a small price bump and now retails at Rs. 74,016 for the drum model and Rs. 77,216 (both ex-showroom, Delhi) for the disc brake model. It looks quite purposeful and boasts a minimal design. The cues comprise a round bulb headlight with an LED DRL above. Powering the Bajaj CT125X is a 124.4cc single-cylinder air-cooled motor and it makes 10.7 bhp and 11 Nm. The Honda Shine has been a popular name in the 125cc commuter bike market. It has a simple design with decent proportions and likeable performance as well. Honda offers the Shine in two variants – Drum and Disc. The asking price for the drum model is Rs. 79,800 and the disc model costs Rs. 83,800 (both ex-showroom, Delhi). There are five colour options available for the Honda Shine –Black, Rebel Red Metallic, Matte Axis Grey, Genny Grey Metallic, and Decent Blue Metallic. The Honda Shine uses a single-cylinder 123.94cc engine and it makes 10.59 bhp and 11 Nm. The motor is linked to a five-speed gearbox. Even the overall hardware on the Shine is quite simple and shouldn’t be expensive if needed to replace. The suspension includes telescopic front forks and dual rear springs while the brakes are mounted on alloy wheels.
The Hero Super Splendor at Rs. 80,848 for the drum variant and Rs. 84,748 (both ex-showroom, Delhi) for the disc brake model. It gets a 124.7cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine that makes 10.72 bhp and 10.6 Nm. It is mated to a five-speed gearbox. The Splendor gets two variants: drum, and disc. It features a diamond chassis with telescopic front forks and dual rear shocks. The braking hardware comprises a single disc for the top trim and a drum at both ends for the base model. Overall, the Super Splendor is known to be fuel-efficient and a durable motorcycle. Moreover, Hero’s service network makes it more accessible to get the Super Splendor as your daily commuter bike.
Another Honda bike that you could look for in the 125cc commuter segment is the SP 125. It is not only oriented towards usability but also looks quite stylish with its youthful yet purposeful design. The SP 125 has a unique fascia and a muscular fuel tank. Honda offers the SP 125 in three variants – Drum, Disc, and Sports Edition. The base model costs Rs. 86,017, while the Disc and Sports trim are priced at Rs. 90,017 and Rs. 90,567 (all ex-showroom, Delhi), respectively. Powering the SP 125 is a 124cc motor dishing out 10.72 bhp and 10.9 Nm. It is linked to a five-speed gearbox. The Honda SP 125 is nimble and easy to ride in traffic. Its upright rider triangle is quite comfortable and it is the same case with the suspension setup. Honda offers the SP 125 in seven paint schemes – Black, Matte Marvel Blue Metallic, Decent Blue Metallic, Heavy Grey Metallic, Imperial Red Metallic, Matte Axis Grey Metallic, and Pearl Siren Blue.
Last but not least, we also have the Bajaj Pulsar 125 on the list. It is priced at Rs. 80,416 for the base model, Rs. 89,984 for the single-piece seat carbon-fibre variant, and Rs. 94,138 (all ex-showroom, Delhi) for the split seat model. The Pulsar 125 has carried the same muscular and butch design for years and that seems to have worked well in Tier 2, Tier 3, and rural areas.
