Introduction
The Indian market is filled with choices of two-wheelers, no matter what your budget is. But there are certain motorcycles in every segment that give you the best bang for your buck. Now, every buyer may have a different set of requirements. But if you’re one of those enthusiasts who have great engine performance and horsepower figure on top of your checklist, here are the five most powerful bikes (on paper) under Rs 2 lakh (ex-showroom).
Bajaj Dominar 250: Rs 1.71 lakh
Starting with the most affordable offering in this list, the Bajaj Dominar 250 is one of the best value-for-money motorcycles in terms of visual appeal, features, hardware and engine performance. It is powered by a 248.8cc, liquid-cooled engine that produces an impressive 26.63bhp of power and 23.5Nm of peak torque. On top of that, it shares a majority of its cycle parts, features and styling with its larger and more expensive sibling, the Dominar 400.
Suzuki Gixxer SF 250: Rs 1.78 lakh
Another desirable proposition here is the Suzuki Gixxer SF 250. With a power output of 26.13bhp and 22.2Nm, its 249cc engine is not only potent but it is also extremely smooth and tractable. And despite featuring an aggressive fully-faired styling, it makes for a comfy companion with forgiving ergonomics. But you can also consider its naked sibling, the Gixxer 250 that costs around Rs 10,000 lesser than the SF.
KTM 200 Duke: Rs 1.83 lakh
For those who prefer something more frantic and quicker, the KTM 200 Duke fits the bill perfectly. While it’s relaxed enough to be ridden in the city, it turns into a bonkers pocket rocket if wrung hard. The 199.5cc, single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine of the Duke produces 25.4bhp and 19.5Nm. Interestingly, the latest edition got the bike shares a majority of its styling with its larger siblings, the 250 Duke and 390 Duke.
Jawa Perak: Rs 1.97 lakh
The Jawa Perak is the only quintessential bobber-styled offering you can buy in this price range. Its main talking point is the design that’s sure to turn plenty of heads on the road. While the front end is similar to the Jawa Standard, certain things like bar-end mirrors and a floating-style single seat are unique to the Perak. What else is also worth noting is that it’s one of the most powerful bikes under Rs 2 lakh. The Perak pumps out 30bhp and 32.74Nm from its 334cc, liquid-cooled mill.
Husqvarna Svartpilen 250: Rs 1.99 lakh
The Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 is another interesting machine that’s essentially a KTM under the skin. Its 248.76cc, liquid-cooled engine does duty on the KTM 250 Duke as well. This unit makes 29.63bhp and 24Nm. Both the huskies including Svartpilen and Vitpilen stand out in the looks department with their distinctive neo-retro styling comprising a round headlamp and an angular fuel tank that’s stretched till under the rider’s seat.
