The electric two-wheeler segment in India has seen unprecedented growth with various new developments in the past couple of years. We’ve witnessed new electric two-wheelers as well as significant technological updates on the pre-existing ones too. Now that there’s a plethora of options for the buyers, which one should they go for? To answer that, we've filtered a list of the five most premium electric two-wheelers on sale in our country.
The list is in no particular order and the only models to make it here are the ones on sale right now.
Ather 450X
The Ather 450X range is well known and has witnessed substantial growth recently. Its e-scooters look sporty, youthful, and futuristic as well. The appealing design is backed by the performance and tech that the Ather 450X packs. It gets LED illumination, touchscreen TFT with smartphone connectivity, navigation, guide-me-home lights, four riding modes (smart eco, eco, ride, sport, and warp), document storage, regenerative braking, OTA (Over The Air) updates, and more. Meanwhile, its motor capacity is rated at 6.2kW and linked to a 3.7kWh lithium-ion battery. Ather claims the 450X can offer a range of 105km in the eco mode. Meanwhile, its top speed is limited to 90kmph.
Overall, the Ather 450X has proved to be quite a reliable and likeable electric scooter. Ather offers the 450X in two variants – standard and Pro Pack. The base model is priced at Rs. 98,079 and the Pro Pack retails at Rs. 1,28,443 (both ex-showroom, Delhi, including FAME II and state subsidy).
Arguably, the Ola S1 Pro has become one of the most well-known names in India for various reasons. As its flagship product, Ola retails the S1 Pro at Rs. 1,24,999 (ex-showroom, Bengaluru). We too have the Ola e-scooter in the BikeWale long-term garage and have ridden it for close to 6,000km. Some of its highlights include its performance and features list. The S1 Pro is equipped with a 4kWh battery and a 5.5kW motor. It gets a claimed range of 130km in the normal mode and a top speed of 116kmph in the hyper mode. Speaking of riding modes, the S1 Pro gets four – eco, normal, sport, and hyper.
Apart from that, Ola has loaded its e-scooter with navigation, cruise control, smartphone connectivity for music, SMS and call notifications, speakers for music and faux exhaust notes, CBS, riding moods, document storage, passcode, and more. Another convenient factor of the Ola S1 Pro is its massive 36-litre under-storage, allowing you to store many of your belongings.
The iQube S is currently TVS’ most premium electric scooter since the Hosur-based brand is yet to launch the ST variant. It costs Rs. 1,04,123 (on-road, Bengaluru, including FAME II), which is quite an affordable asking price considering the above models. Compared to other EVs, the iQube has been one of the most family-friendly looking scooters. Right from its conservative yet approachable design to the relaxed rider triangle, the convenience factor of the iQube S is quite high.
It packs a 3.4kWh lithium-ion battery pack that offers 105km in Eco mode, and 75km in Power mode. TVS claims a top speed of 78kmph, which is on the lower side but doesn’t affect the ownership experience. The iQube gets a front disc and rear drum brake and rides on 12-inch alloys. As for its features, the TVS e-scooter gets full-LED lighting along with a full-colour TFT instrument cluster with TVS’ SmartXonnect function for smartphone connectivity via Bluetooth. You then get access to ride stats, remote battery range, and geo-fencing. This setup also comes with navigation and displays incoming call and message notifications. Lastly, the iQube has been equipped with a Q-Park feature for easier parking.
The Bajaj Chetak is a proper retro-styled family electric scooter. Its design emotes the old-school cues from the original Chetak scooter with a dash of modern technology. The Bajaj Chetak e-scooter is priced at Rs. 1.51 lakh and equipped with a 4kW motor that’s linked to a 3kWh lithium-ion battery. During our BikeWale range test, the Chetak returned around 106km of range and displayed a top speed of 69kmph.
Its construction and overall features are quite simple. You get LED illumination and a digital console with the necessary readouts like speed, battery level, ride modes, odometer, trip meter, and smartphone connectivity. The latter allows you to receive/reject calls, ride stats, the route taken, and more. Even the hardware on the Chetak is quite reliable. It gets a front disc and a rear drum brake, while the suspension comprises a monoshock at both ends.
The Revolt RV 400 is an electric motorcycle that has gained a decent number of buyers in the last few years. Revolt currently only has the RV400 in its portfolio, and the electric motorcycle goes on sale in a phased manner. It’s priced at Rs. 1.42 lakh and sports a futuristic design with a slim build. It gets an LED headlight, a fully digital console with smartphone connectivity, geo-fencing, a removable battery, and speakers for faux exhaust notes.
The RV 400 rides on beefy USD front forks and a monoshock. Its braking hardware comprises a front and rear disc brake with CBS. Revolt has also given the RV 400 a storage compartment near the tank which adds to the convenience.
