BMC Air Filter Installation : Aprilia SR150
Last week we told you about the new air filter which we decided to fit on the Aprilia SR150 (you can read about it HERE) courtesy the good folks at Race Smith Auto. You can look them up on Facebook.
We told you that the stock replacement BMC Air Filter was longer lasting, freer flowing and more robust than the stock air filter the SR comes with. We also told you the reason behind it.
Now, it’s time to fit the new air filter and up the SR 150’s street cred. All you need to get it done is an average sized ‘plus’ type screwdriver, and a deftness at applying stickers.
Step 1
Unscrew the airbox cover. You don’t have to keep a tab on which screw came from where because they are all the same size. Just don’t let them roll away, and do remember to count them. There should be seven after you have screwed them all out.
Step 2
Unscrew the stock air filter. Same drill as above. It doesn’t matter where they popped out from, just remember you will need to screw back six when putting the BMC in place.
Step 3
The side with the rubber gasket should be facing inside. It’s there to seal the airbox properly after the BMC has been screwed on. Screw the BMC on to the point where the casual turning force just isn’t enough. Leave it there.
Step 4
Screw the airbox cover back in place. Remember to screw on the screws diagonally for a proper fit. And remember there are seven screws. If you don’t have all seven, you should be worried.
Step 5
Put the BMC stickers on. And, the SR’s good to go!
Next week, it’s stock vs BMC. We will tell you the difference in the SR’s fuel economy, acceleration and the roll-on times with the stock filter and the new BMC air filter.
