Daytona AC Pro Short Boots Product Review
I am a big fan of short boots, especially for daily motorcycle commutes. These are easy to slip-on compared to the full-sized variety. Plus, one can store them in the regular shoe rack instead of putting them away in the dedicated motorcycle gear wardrobe. And yes, most of us do have such pointless wardrobes at home. To everybody’s displeasure, of course.
The thing to note is, short boots don’t generally offer the same level of protection as full-sized boots against twist and jive. And this is especially true on a racetrack or when one is riding hell for leather.
Commute Friendly
But, on commutes, short boots are definitely better than your sneakers or even your regular leather anklet shoes. And if you choose right, these are nearly as comfortable to walk around in all day as well. Unlike your full-sized motorcycle gumboots.
The AC Pro from Daytona is certainly one of the more comfortable short boots on the market currently. And, it scores high on safety too. Sold exclusively by Delhi-Based MotoPoto LLP, these are also one of the best-built boots I have sampled.
Now, Daytona is a German boot maker. And like most things German, safety and quality are top priorities for every set of boot it makes. Daytona also claims that its boots are hand-made and therefore pricier than most other boots on the market.
As for the AC Pro, it uses a mix of perforated and non-perforated high quality leather that gives the boot its expensive look and feel. Even the stitching that connects these various pieces of leather is neat, evenly spaced and nearly flawless.
Feature Rich
The AC Pro comes with a combination of laces and Velcro for a better fit. There’s sweat wicking lining on the inside to keep odour at bay. And there’s a pull loop at the back that makes slipping-on the boots almost as easy as a loafer. There’s also soft lining around the boot neck, which means, you can wear short socks and get away with it.
As far as safety goes, it features open-cell foam padding to protect the ankles against impact. It gets high abrasion resistant PU material for those low-side slides. And, thanks to a reinforced sole, says Daytona, the AC Pro also protects the rider’s foot against twisting forces. It’s also the only short boot we have seen than comes with a Titanium slider, which hugely enhances its cool co-efficient.
Next time, we will tell you how all this translates into real world riding. Stay tuned.
