Introduction
Have you ever been on a long ride? One of the major sources of discomfort is the seat. And any discomfort means you’re going to get tired quicker and that is a bad thing. Among the Bikewale team we’ve tried many different things to reduce this, including working out, riding more, wearing cycling shorts with padding… but now a company called Fego claims it has the answers to our prayers. It is called the Fego Float, and the company claims that it will give you the feeling of sitting on Aladdin’s carpet the next time you go on that long ride.
The package consists of an air cushion, a cover which is mostly leather, straps to keep it in place on the seat, and a rain cover to protect the seat because it is mostly leather. There is no air pump, to keep it simple. What you do is blow into the valve, the air cushion inflates, and voila! You’re ready to go.
The quality of the product is really good, and the contrasting stitching is very fetching. The rain cover doesn’t seem to fit quite right on our example, but the company has assured us that it takes a little while for it to take the shape of the seat. Come the monsoon, we’ll find out for sure. I have been picked because I’m the most qualified to review this. No, not because I’ve got the largest, er, review area in the team, but because I’ve got a first-gen 390 Duke and the commute to office itself is a 60km trip.
If sitting on air appeals to you, you can purchase the Fego Float from FuelADream - they even have options for car drivers. The next update will cover the installation of the Fego Float on the 390 Duke, and our initial impressions of it.
