Maximus PRO Review – Introduction
Gone are the days when you would have to rely on paper maps and kind locals to guide you to your destination. Smart phones and Google Maps have made things a lot easier. However, the battery life of cell phones has failed to keep up with the advancement in technology. While portable power banks or motorcycle USB chargers like the Resonate ChargePlus are a good solution, some people might not be comfortable riding around with their expensive smart phone mounted on the motorcycle. This is where the Maximus PRO comes in.
The Maximus PRO is a smart navigation device which was launched last year at the India Bike Week. With focus on providing a distraction-free navigational experience, it offers a slew of services aimed at improving the riding experience. Through the smart phone app, Maximus PRO allows you to plan your route and navigate. It also integrates a bunch of safety measures, like real time alerts for your battery status and sending out SOS signals to your pre-assigned contacts in case of emergencies. It also allows you to build a social profile and connect with fellow Maximus PRO users to keep a tab on their travels.
The packaging of the Maximus PRO is top-notch and equivalent to that of premium smart phones. Once you open the box, you are met with a display module on the first level. The company claims that the display has been kept simple and clutter free to minimise the distractions for the rider, and to maximise the battery life. Maximus PRO ships a mount to accommodate this module on the handlebar. This can be found in the second level, along with three spacers to fit different handlebar sizes, an Allen key and a USB charger for the module. The lowest level holds the connectivity module. The connectivity module is to be mounted below your motorcycle seat and connected to the battery. The connectivity module integrates a GPS and a SIM card to communicate with the device and your cell phone, and monitor your bike’s battery level.
The price tag of Rs 14,999 makes Maximus PRO a really expensive proposition, especially considering that you can get navigational devices from seasoned players like Garmin for similar money. However, the Maximus PRO does offer a slew of safety and social services that you won’t find in any other such device. Besides, the price includes a two-year subscription of their services. You can buy the Maximus PRO online though their official website.
Over the next few months, the Maximus PRO will be my accomplice for all of my motorcycle rides on the Apache. We will soon bring you a guide of how to install the Maximus PRO on your motorcycle and a detailed review.
